Namami Tate Is a campaign brought to you by the Ministry of Earth Sciences in collaboration with the Government of India. This campaign is part of the Government of India’s 75 week celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mohotsav. Through Namami Tate, we are targeting cleaning of some of the dirtiest beaches of India with the help of the Government as well as fellow citizens. Beaches play a fundamental role in maintaining the health of the oceans and also provide habitat to a number of marine species.

However, last year, a group of researchers from ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE) found that the north-east Arabian Sea, just off Mumbai, contained an estimated 379 MT of marine debris of which plastics contributed to 40.6% of the total by weight. A major portion of this debris washes up on the beaches creating health, environmental, economic as well as social hazards. The fast-paced growth of the tourism sector combined with the lack of awareness on the part of citizens about the damaging impact of pollution is one of the leading causes of the abysmal condition of our beaches. The Namami Tate campaign aims to clean these beaches and protect our precious marine biodiversity.

The Ministry of Earth Sciences invites suggestions from the citizens of India about the innovative ways in which we can conduct this beach cleaning activity. We value your suggestions which would be instrumental in implementing this campaign.

The best entries from the citizens will be identified by the Ministry and will be featured on the MyGov page.

The last date to receive suggestions is 15th August 2022.

Educational and awareness campaigns can be developed by schools or promoted by government. Both have effectively enhanced their target audience's knowledge of marine litter, perception of the extent of the issue, and catalyzed behavior change. Students who participated in beach cleaning reported a significantly greater perception of knowledge and environmentally-friendly behavior compared to the students in the laboratory-based class. The students who participated in beach cleaning also saw a significantly greater increase in their scores for perceived knowledge and environmentally-friendly behavior compared to the other cohort. Educational campaigns can spread knowledge and incite behavior change beyond the target audience. Thanks By-Sudhanshu

Public engagement and beach cleaning There are three primary ways the public can learn about or participate in beach cleaning: educational programs, awareness campaigns, and volunteering. All modes of public engagement can increase awareness of the issue of marine litter, educate participants about marine litter and ocean conservation, and motivate behavior change. When volunteers participate in beach cleaning, they can use mechanical or manual methods.

यदि सरकार समुद्रों में जाने वाले व्यक्तियों पर कचरे फैलाने पर फाइन की व्यवस्था कर तो इसपर कुछ हद तब कमी आएगी ।

I like the idea of Shivrajpur beach concept @ Dwarka. Beaches preservation and cleanliness can be maintained by bringing in privatization. This will not only keep the beaches clean, however entry fees will bring in responsibility to keep beaches clean. Privatization will bring in activities on the beaches and more tourism

Sir, I want to say something about the mentioned topic i.e Beach cleaning. Today, we human being are developing ourselves by harming the other living beings directly and indirectly. We harm other living beings and ourselves also by polluting the environment destroying one's habitat etc. But, I will say especially about,"How we are harming the aquatic animals by producing waste in beach and suggestion to government to take some measures to stop this." 1. Firstly, we should make awareness about this. 2. We should stop the tourists to do this. 3. Prohibition of plastic materials . 4. The Government should make laws on this thing and enforce laws and if any one breaks the law, he or she must be punished . 5. The best way to prevent this problem is to stop it at an early stage Lastly, I request the government to take some measures to stop this . I am sure that the government will do something new on this. The best way to prevent something is to stop it at an early stage. a nip in the bud. Prohibition of plastic items and materials that may cause disturbance to the environment, and next there should be some employees that can work as a regular cleaning staff, which would not only help cleaning but also would help the people in case of emergency or evaluation, this will also increase job vacancies, because the staff members should also be expert swimmers. The market shops and local vendors should be told to sell things without poly bag. and they should be kept at a distance from beach, regular inspection by the local authorities can be helpful. New gadgets can be used to clean the beach area. Cleaning campaign drives can be included in the curriculum of every school and colleges. And extra activities like beach football should be given to them as a reward for their efforts. There are many ways people can themselves take care of the area without the involvement of Government.
