The temple city of Tirupati has been shortlisted by Ministry of Urban Development as one of the potential 100 smart cities in India. The Tirupati Municipal Corporation is currently working on upgrading its proposals for Round 2 of the Smart City Mission. One of the key processes of the Mission is to engage with the citizens at every stage in order to prioritise the areas for intervention. The Municipal Corporation of Tirupati are requested to examine the earlier proposals in detail and identify The gaps in the light of the Guidelines / Generic gaps issued by the MOUD and post their remarks/feedback on the discussion thread. The citizen engagement would lead to a meaningful envisioning exercise and identify the priority areas of physical, social; economic and institutional infrastructure. It is expected that the citizens participate in this exercise and help Tirupati successfully traverse the path of transforming itself in to a Smart.

Traffic chaos should be addressed, especially with the parking issues and hap hazardous parking of auto rickshaws near railway station and srinivasam. Auto regularization should be done in these areas

Vacant spaces need to be utilized efficiently, either by the provision of street vendoring or in the form of parking facilities possible

Tirupati is strategically located near Bengaluru and Chennai, development along these corridors should increase the footfall to tirupati and can generate revenue.

Importance of Science Museum, Heritage, Culture, Vedic Patashala should be given an importance in the proposal. Because these are among the strongest Pillars for Tirupati

We should make sure that, Tirupati should not face environmental problems like that of other major cities facing today, Putting in mind the Chennai disaster happened a year back, we need to have a well planned underground drainage system.

First I would like to appreciate the local authority for launching e-toilets and maintaining the same. I wish similar initiatives to be taken up in various other sectors which improve the quality of life in the city, use the smart city challenge as a platform to achieve all our dreams

Skywalk may not be a suitable option for the elderly and disabled suggest modifying the alternative solutions which are friendly for all groups of the society, as well consume lesser resources in operation and maintenance.

Tirupati is selected for SMART city challenge, I am very happy, but there are few things to be improved for the second round of the competition. 1) Employment generation. 2) Better Transportation facilities. 4) Plastic free zone. 5) Crime free zone. 6) Waste management 7) Rain water harvesting. 8) On line file transfer (to reduce corruption)

With reference to the sky walk proposed from railway to srinivasam, there may be lot hurdles such as it becomes a night shelter for beggars and goons. Kindly modify.
