Varanasi has been selected by MoUD, GoI under Smart City Mission Phase-I 100 cities. In the next phase, Varanasi has to compete with 98 other cities from across the country to make it into the Top 20 cities.
Citizens and stakeholders of Varanasi are requested to post their views and suggestions on the Smart Vision Statement for Varanasi to be developed as Smart City. The solutions, suggestions & views should reflect the Vision of the City.
Vision:

“To revive the Glory of Varanasi by conserving and promoting its heritage and protecting its cultural and traditional environs to boost tourism and employment, provide quality urban services, accountable governance to enhance the quality of life of citizen”

Enchroacment, lack of parking space and lack of traffic control are the key problems that should be dealt with priority. Route diversion and route restrictions should be worked out and must implemented with strictness. Strict and honest officers with a vision to improve should be encouraged. Traffic control teams must be made with a team leader for traffic regulations on various chaurahas with hefty traffic. They must be answerable in case of jam.

वाराणसी को स्मार्ट सिटी बनाने के लिए सर्वप्रथम सड़कों एवं गलियों को बिलकुल दुरुस्त रखना होगा । यह सुनिश्चित होना चाहिए कि बार - बार सड़कें खोदी न जाएँ । यदि कोई व्यक्ति विशेष सड़क खोद रहा है तो सजा का प्रावधान होना चाहिए । सड़कों एवं पटरियों से अतिक्रमण हटे और यह सुनिश्चित हो कि दोबारा अतिक्रमण नहीं हो यदि अतिक्रमण होता है तो सजा के प्रावधान को कड़ाई से लागू करना होगा । चूंकि शहर घना बसा है इसलिए पार्किंग की व्यवस्था ठीक करनी होगी अन्यथा सड़क एवं पटरी के अतिक्रमण को नहीं रोका जा सकता ।
