Varanasi has been selected by MoUD, GoI under Smart City Mission Phase-I 100 cities. In the next phase, Varanasi has to compete with 98 other cities from across the country to make it into the Top 20 cities.
Citizens and stakeholders of Varanasi are requested to post their views and suggestions on the Smart Vision Statement for Varanasi to be developed as Smart City. The solutions, suggestions & views should reflect the Vision of the City.
Vision:

“To revive the Glory of Varanasi by conserving and promoting its heritage and protecting its cultural and traditional environs to boost tourism and employment, provide quality urban services, accountable governance to enhance the quality of life of citizen”

The development of railway station is main requirement, the area near the railway station should be made encroachment free

Tourism can also be improved by arranging packages like a trip to temples and trip to places like sarnath,lakhaniya dari,dev dari etc.

the city is known for its historical importance inmemorable time... the art of making smart cities should be achieved with the straight lanes of roads maximum utilisation of land available, development of green roads ( by cultivating indigenous trees such as mangos, flowers, some public garden)  the clean bypass roads to the main cities,

We could look into the promotion of bee farming in the city this would not only create a source of income in the state, it would also create items for export (honey, wax based products) and improve the quality of crops in the fields surrounding the bee farms
