Varanasi has been selected by MoUD, GoI under Smart City Mission Phase-I 100 cities. In the next phase, Varanasi has to compete with 98 other cities from across the country to make it into the Top 20 cities.
Citizens and stakeholders of Varanasi are requested to post their views and suggestions on the Smart Vision Statement for Varanasi to be developed as Smart City. The solutions, suggestions & views should reflect the Vision of the City.
Vision:

“To revive the Glory of Varanasi by conserving and promoting its heritage and protecting its cultural and traditional environs to boost tourism and employment, provide quality urban services, accountable governance to enhance the quality of life of citizen”

I think first stop the Tabbacco & polybags , setup of toilets at every crossing. And roads should be cleaned & proper .

Technology driven Solid Waste Management (addressing largely cost effectiveness, capacity utilization, environment building, professional M&E) 2. Traffic Management (Using Mobile App for real time solutions) 3. Urban infrastructure Management 4. Grievance redressal system"

लोगों को यातायात नियमों को सही से पालन करना सीखा सकते है। चाहे वो पर्सनल वाहन चालक हो या पब्लिक वाहन चालक।

varanasi requires to ensure basic infrastructure services to enable a decent quality of life in urban pockets and a clean and sustainable environment and adoption of smart solutions and providing more public spaces to poor. It may be implemented through areas based approach consisting of retrofitting, re-development, pan city initiatives.

The immediate step to be taken is the levy of fine of Rs.500 for spitting,throwing litter and application of posters and banners on the streets and walls.For effective implementation of this,CCTVs should be placed and public places.Special teams in plainclothes for catching people who spoil the surroundings should be placed called GREEN POLICE at tourist places.Special awareness drives regarding cleanliness should be conducted all over varanasi.This will bring down the waste like Singapore.

Smart City vision to ensure clean ambient air, pollution free environment with hazards minimization in the industries. Future lies in the hands of the city planner. They Should dedicate their best effort to make sure that the environment is not polluted or like many other industrial town in the world it will become inhabitable for the citizens.
