Although Indian Railways enjoy the highest captive eyeballs in a railway system internationally, it earns less than 5% of its revenues through non-tariff sources. Many of the world railway systems generate 10% to 20% of their revenues from non-tariff sources.

IR typically has focused on increasing revenues through tariff hikes. It wants to change this and challenge the conventional thinking by exploiting new sources of revenue so that every asset, tangible or non-tangible, gets optimally monetized

We invite ideas from citizens on increasing non fare revenue for Indian Railways.

sir railway can gain a large amount of money by auctioning the old used rails, damaged bogies and all the scraps that is kept at a side of every major station in the country and not even being touched by any of the concerned officials from decades and as a result being converted into just rust and nothing else. sir just by proper method involved in auctioning (like the online auctions monitored by the center) INDIAN RAILWAY can earn a very large amount of money.

I think persons those are doing paper job may be cut short. And in a office a single man can be responsible for four five table. Railway boards can be merged. It must must must be a performance based organization. Failures must be kicked out. Big abandoned halls can be used for hotels, marriage hall or whatever beneficial.(2).main junction points as

1.Reduce your expenditure by complete Automation example for ticket issue & checking in entry, inside the train, 2.Update your technology remove/transfer all under perform / inefficiency machinery and manpower 3.Introduce business class in all trains in clouding passenger trains 4.Increase safety, security and avoid accidents and internal losses like stealing your property. 5.Setup televisions/glow sign boards in all coaches raise income from advertisements

Trains those are inaugurated from some famous station for them and other nearest one or two stations reservation is achievable but did u ever consider about those are staying or start journey from nasik , jhansi, Kanpur etc. Think and do something useful. 2. No of bearthss to be increased during season. And during off season that train is not needed. Put that train there where that very moment season is going through. 3. Why Army compartments are whether abolished or running with very small one.

1.) impose limits on baggage allowance and charge for additional baggage 2.) charge for berth preference like airlines 3.) fence entries and exits of the railway station premises and eliminate presence of illegitimate people in railway station premises 4.) withdraw various unnecessary concessions like dirt cheap season passes, free tickets for railway employee etc 5.) purchase ATVMs from world-class global ATM manufacturers and impose surcharge on tickets purchased manually from window

1.)make IRCTC website login independent and let people book without any registration. Waive off all payment gateway surcharge for online booking and impose additional charge on paper tickets purchased from window manually 2.) aggregate all retail and FNB space portfolio of railway properties and auction them to reputed Indian or global companies rather than Mishra/Gupta & sons etc. 3.)lease out waiting room space to reputed hospitality companies 4.)same goes for advertising portfolio

3. Vast land lying along the raiway line may be leased or auctioned for agriculture purpose without transfering ownership. The land will remain with railway. 4. Vast amount of steel, and other materials may be sold/auctioned as it where is basis. Material requirment must be assessed before doing so, otherwise same material will be supplied to railway at at higher cost. 5. !. international standard shopping malls may be created with all aminities at our great railway stations like Bombay,Delhi, Calcutta,Chenay, Ahmedabad etc.Shops may be given on rent and necessary facilities may be created by private parties with royalty to railway. 2. Shops may be constructed as per the requirment of the tenant or space may be given by the railway, and construction be done by the user. He should give land rent to the railway with per year increasing basis.
