Although Indian Railways enjoy the highest captive eyeballs in a railway system internationally, it earns less than 5% of its revenues through non-tariff sources. Many of the world railway systems generate 10% to 20% of their revenues from non-tariff sources.

IR typically has focused on increasing revenues through tariff hikes. It wants to change this and challenge the conventional thinking by exploiting new sources of revenue so that every asset, tangible or non-tangible, gets optimally monetized

We invite ideas from citizens on increasing non fare revenue for Indian Railways.

IR can sell any his Station to any private company for some years, then that company will take care of everything related to that particular station. for income Company can charge from other companies for advertisement, on this Station and they also can put their hording and advertisement on station. this company will be responsible for cleanliness and safety and security and look of Station.

Both sides of Railway Tract land can be utilised to generate not only Revenue for the Railway but it help generate employment and boost to Swachha Bharat Mission, besides contributing to the environment. There can be plantation of different kind of trees both sides of railway Tract. which can be fenced to protect them.one family can be given responsibility to look after the trees and areas. there can be modular toilets that will used by the local populations living nearby the tracts.details ...

coach should be so designed to accomodate more passengers double decker coaches specially general may be attached. water conservation needs to be adopted. manpower audit may be undertaken to optimise manpower. multiskilling needs to be adopted at larger stations also which are prevalent at smaller stations. mechanisation of cleaning equipment.

I think it would be worthwhile reducing expenditure by means of adopting LED,Solar energy in operation. reducing losses and pilferage would be another step railways need to take. safety needs to be focussed. Outsourcing needs to be more competitive. latest technology to reduce accidents etc.

Here I'd like share couple of opinion 1- non profitable train I.e those trains on the track for the sake and do not get engagement from the passenger must be discontinued. 2- e Tendring for purchasing of any material for railway and reduce the influence of contractor. 3- ticket vending machine booking with ATM henece reduce the unnecessary burden at station. Having paid dormitory with pre booking system. With class of facility. 4- old garbage must be sold out which get dimanetal on side.

#IndianRailways #DynamicPricing I feel that the motive of dynamic pricing will be well served if there is a proper pricing mechanism in place.Right now by charging 32-35% over the actual fare & running the train with a few empty seats doesn't really make sense.I mean you can book a ticket for a Rajdhani Express on the morning of date of journey & still find 45-50 seats up for sale then what's the point of having such a mechanism.Maybe if better worked out it can work wonders in the long run.

make one common rail travel card which one accept all stations.any bank we can top up this card.put ticket machine all major stations give incentive to buy tickets through such a machine so less men power used by ticket counters.make advertise on rail couch out side and back side of tickets.fro commercial product take money and give authority to sell product in train during day time.
