Dear Citizens of Rajkot, ...

Dear Citizens of Rajkot,

The Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) is all set to re-invigorate the Smart City proposal preparation process as part of Round II of the Smart City Mission. The City missed the first list by a whisker and is poised to ensure success this time around. RMC is currently working closely with the citizens to strengthen its smart city proposal. The participation of citizens is absolutely crucial in ensuring the success of our city.

We request you for your suggestion and inputs for improvement of our city’s proposal submitted in the Round I. Your views on smart solutions and city priorities would help us to further innovate and strengthen the proposal for the Round II. Kindly give suggestions for improvement of services within the city with focus on physical and social infrastructure plans. The Broad spectrum of service areas is provided below:

• Adequate water supply including waste water recycling and storm water reuse,
• Assured electricity supply including solar power,
• Sanitation, including solid waste management,
• Efficient urban mobility and public transport,
• Affordable Housing, especially for poor,
• Robust IT connectivity and digitalization,
• Good Governance, especially e-Governance and citizen participation,
• Sustainable environment,
• Ensuring safety of citizens, especially women and elderly, and
• Health and Education

Smart cities real estate allotment rules should be re-evaluated, any big builder or co-orporator should be only given approval when new constructions are going hand in hand with the cities infrastructure construction plan (Digging up of roads and pavements in the name of construction work is a big mayham and adds to pollution and city traffic ) and finishes within in and around the completion time of public infrastructure, any delays or illegal constructions and encroachments should be fined

Parking is another big challenge facing a growing city, The smart city blue print should have proper study and execution of and efficient parking mechanism which it would encounter in the future. Key landmarks and crowded areas should be targeted to address the parking issue while expansions is planned around that area

The city should strive to promote greener solutions of transport infrastructure , ex :Greener pavements, dedicated bicycle roadways. With cities becoming smarter the traffic management should also be smarter and efficient , encourage and to an extent enforce public modes of transportation.
