Kota has been selected in the list of 100 Smart Cities announced in August 2015. Currently, Kota Nagar Nigam is in process of preparing the Smart City Proposal, which would form the basis for selecting the First 20 Smart Cities – for implementation from 2016. The Smart City Proposal is your proposal – the voice of Kota. We request each and every citizen of Kota to share his / her suggestions for pan-city developments in Kota.

Pan city initiatives are smart solutions that benefit the entire city by improving one or more elements of city infrastructure, services or governance.

We request the citizens to suggest the top priority pan city solution to be taken up for Kota smart City. An indicative list of broad segments of smart solutions is as follows:

• Smart Solid Waste Management
• Smart Utilities
• Smart Buses for Public Transport
• Smart Traffic and Parking Solutions
• E-governance
• Centralized Command & Control Center
• Smart Surveillance and Safety Solutions

Citizens may also suggest any other innovative ideas / solutions which they feel may have a wide-spread impact improving the quality of life of most of the citizens across the city.

The last date to submit your suggestions / comments is 4th December, 2015.

Citizens can also reach us through the official website: www.smartcitykota.com which is a nodal site for Kota for all information on the Smart City Challenge.

Most importantly create a online governance platform. Currently the process of getting approvals and applying for licenses/certificates is so lengthy and we have to make multiple trips to the nagar nigam / UIT offices. This is really frustating and there should be an accountable efficient system of online submission, approvals and tracking of files / documents.

Kota is known as coaching hub with more than 2 lakh students coming in the city. They normally use bicycles or just walk to classes. This creates a lot of traffic congestion problems. Can't we create dedicated lanes so that these students can safely travel to classes and this will also reduce traffic on roads.

City should encourage smart buildings, which use sensors, meters, systems and software to monitor and control a wide range of building functions – lighting, energy, water, HVAC, communications, video monitoring, intrusion detection, elevator monitoring and fire safety among them.
