Tiruchirappalli City Municipal Corporation has been ranked first among 12 cities selected for implementing Smart City project in Tamil Nadu and is gaining momentum to get shortlisted in the final round of Smart City Challenge where 20 cities would be selected in the first year.

The vibrant citizens of Tiruchirappalli are requested to post their views pertaining to municipal and city’s basic infrastructure such as water supply, electricity, sanitation, waste management, transport, parking, energy,housing, IT solutions,safety and security. Residents are encouraged to give their ideas and suggestions at city level as well as local area level solutionsin Tiruchirappalli.

Let us join hands together in making Tiruchirappalli a global Smart City!

Digital Infrastructure can be improved to include people's participation in governance and feedback. To start with, land and building registration records need to be published online using database infrastructure. Then combine certain criteria with every household like is it solar enabled or not and make this info public. Complaints system can be improved using regular polling. Choose any 10 points and hold regular polls (monthly ward-wise) to get a feedback.

in recent times there has also been a keen interest in the education enterprise, which have seen a great many school exam toppers from institutions based in these parts. This model, though with occasional complaints, needs to be strengthened as many "non-city" children get an opportunity to compete at the highest levels. This requires more guidelines & better supervision, and can become a model scheme like the one in Bihar - preparing students for IIT
