Tiruchirappalli City Municipal Corporation has been ranked first among 12 cities selected for implementing Smart City project in Tamil Nadu and is gaining momentum to get shortlisted in the final round of Smart City Challenge where 20 cities would be selected in the first year.

The vibrant citizens of Tiruchirappalli are requested to post their views pertaining to municipal and city’s basic infrastructure such as water supply, electricity, sanitation, waste management, transport, parking, energy,housing, IT solutions,safety and security. Residents are encouraged to give their ideas and suggestions at city level as well as local area level solutionsin Tiruchirappalli.

Let us join hands together in making Tiruchirappalli a global Smart City!

Tanjore has municipal waste, aggregate quarry, cement plants, rag pickers and cultivation land. City may employ rag pickers to segregate organic and inorganic waste and produce the gas which can be used as energy to run bus and top class manure to supply to farmers. Inorganic waste like plastic can be used for making eco friendly road. The municipal waste, sewage sludge and rice can be used in Cement plants to save fossil fuel.Hence Trichy can turn the waste into cash by proper implementation

Prevent entry of untreated waste which is one of the biggest pollutants in rivers. Just before start of monsoon organize removing silt accumulations from all major drainage canals in the city. Use treated water from water treatment plant for green belt development, civil construction , washing and cleaning etc. Ban construction company using ground water instead of treated water from the treatment plant. Conserve water, convert Trichy into a green city and save environment Raj, Lebanon

Close all open drains as it is the biggest primary source of various diseases. Set up sewerage treatment plants to get methane to generate power , divert wastewater from the plant for non-potable use and the sewage sludge to Cement plants as fuel . Wastewater also can be used for biomass production and conversion of the biomass into bio-energy - produce higher yields of the raw materials for bio-fuel. Hence Trichy can turn the waste into cash and also save environment . Raj, Lebanon

1. Bring all the government offices in one place for access to public 2. all the information need to convert to online 3. by-cycle path and pools all over the place for sustainability 4. walk way on the both bounds of cauvery river with exercises equipment's & parks 5. all the street light equipped with solar panels 6. proper utilities planning and keep in mind for future extension. 7. clear road directions signage's 8. Go clean & green with sustainability options 9. tress on roads

6.world class govt hospitals 7.no stagnation of water on roads 8.rainwater harvesting 9.self sufficient solar powerplant for public places 10.parking places for MG gate shoppers 11.removal of all digital banners of politicians(incl. Ms.jayalalitha), celebrities only govt emblem to be allowed. 12.riverside recreational place like sabarmati riverside in gujarat. 13.24x7 power supply 14.city shld have some self power generating stations involving wind and solar 15.no open sewer system

As this is a major movement by the government to promote city planning, i would like to suggest the following points. 1. clean toilets in central bus stand and other public places with regular maintenance like multiplex theaters and hefty fines for littering 2.Drinking water facilities 24x7 3.Buses in poor conditions shall be replaced by new buses & proper 24x7 connectivity to Trichy international airport. 4.All parks to be renovated and need new parks 5.eliminating mosquitoes
