Tiruchirappalli City Municipal Corporation has been ranked first among 12 cities selected for implementing Smart City project in Tamil Nadu and is gaining momentum to get shortlisted in the final round of Smart City Challenge where 20 cities would be selected in the first year.

The vibrant citizens of Tiruchirappalli are requested to post their views pertaining to municipal and city’s basic infrastructure such as water supply, electricity, sanitation, waste management, transport, parking, energy,housing, IT solutions,safety and security. Residents are encouraged to give their ideas and suggestions at city level as well as local area level solutionsin Tiruchirappalli.

Let us join hands together in making Tiruchirappalli a global Smart City!

Please introduce e governance as it can bring down corruption to a great extent. Getting approvals, improving ease of doing business, cutting down the laborious beauracratic process is key in making life much easier for the residents. This is vital for people to invest in our city and to get people like us living abroad to get back and give something back to the city.

It is time the Indian Government woke up to the parking menace blighting the country to formulate a smart parking policy where parking charges are fixed in relation to existing rentals and land values pertaining to that area. Higher and more effective parking tariffs are necessary in many locations, to ease congestion and cover costs.

Introduce Smart Card based licenses and registration certificates. Introduce dealer registration process enabling the registration of vehicles. Extend the citizen services from RTO, RTA/ STA Develop web based integrated information system to deliver anytime / anywhere information to citizens Registration and authorization of Transport Services Provider (TSP) enabling citizens to get legalized service delivery from the TSPs

Enhance citizens’ convenience by establishing, operating, maintaining & enhancing the transport services to provide anywhere, anytime services with a payment gateway. Educate and promote the online, web based citizen centric services like application submission, payment, appointment etc.

please limit sticking of cinemas, political and advertisement posters to certain designated areas..strictly enforce fines on violators by making the institution accountable who are directing the labours to do so just to get their adv visible. like chennai, have a connected vehicle to visit all historical places

Human error is involved in maximum number of traffic accidents on Indian’s roads, in which many people are killed and injured every year. Road transport also burns one quarter of the India’s overall energy consumption, with CO2 emissions caused by road vehicles. eSafety “smart” technologies, based on the powers of computers and telecoms, can make a major difference.

It is also true that ICT itself uses energy, both in a concentrated way such as datacentres, and in much more distributed ways such as the wide scale use of smartphones, tablets and the energy needed for 3G/4G transmission. A smart innovative way of consuming energy for ICT itself should be addressed as well.

ICT in smart city can also integrate energy generation and supply with transportation and mobility systems further reducing overall energy use, as well as making our lives easier by reducing congestion, speeding up our journeys and making vehicles safer. As more and more electrical vehicles take to the roads in the future, this integration between a smart electricity supply and citizens’ transport and mobility needs will become even more important.

The usage of Fossil Fuels is one of the major factors that contributes to the release of Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere. In current scenario, India is one of the major consumers of fossil fuels and contributes excessively to the climate change aspect. Every day the energy is used in our homes, offices, vehicles, factories, shops, and therefore it’s in our hands to reduce our energy consumption and CO2 emissions. ICT application in a smart city can be helpful to increase the energy efficiency.
