The Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee (CPCC), U.T, Chandigarh has taken serious cognizance of the increasing pollution levels in the airs of the city. Pollution occurs in many forms including Air, Water, Soil & Noise pollution.

The CPCC has expressed serious concern over the contamination of the overall environment as the sources of pollution don't simply have a negative impact on the natural world, but also have a measurable effect on the health of human beings also.

In this direction, the Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee has decided to engage the citizens of the city for their invaluable suggestions/ideas/opinions/practical solutions to put a check on increasing levels of all types of pollution in Chandigarh.

The CPCC hereby appeals to the city residents to participate in huge number in order to equip the CPCC with more and more innovative and practical solutions/ideas (which are implementable) to curb the problems arising out of different kind of pollution.

Dear Sir, JUSCO a TATA group company has developed a technology to use waste plastic of all grades, to build roads which are eco-friendly,durable & cheaper. India's situation with regards to plastic waste is alarming and inadequate system to collect & dispose such huge amount of plastic leads to people dumping them in pits, farms, lakes, rivers and drainage nullahs. First of all, try to destroy the vehicle which are more than 15 years old. Second, try to educate the people that four wheeler can not be used for single person. Third and best one, Govt. of Chandigarh can allow the people (most of the cases Students) to share their two wheeler with any citizen with mutually agreed terms for same route. The idea is already in presence in GOA State where every individual can share his /her two wheeler to drop the person at desired location.

The following is the cheapest and only viable solution for Chandigarh. Make on road straight electric tram tracks on all roads end to end with hop-on hop-down travel tickets. This system is about a 1000 times cheaper to make and run than metro. It will stop use of pvt cars and polluting buses to great extent. Shift the inter state bus stand to the periphery of city with Tram connectivity. This is secure and safest, cheapest, aesthetically nice and can be put in place in minimum time.

A citylike chandigarh is getting polluted is really a shame on our governance system. It is such a simple city that could have been easily saved but the bureaucrats are neither have a will nor expertise to do it but they are always in front to jump grab the key positions in govt. Not only this whole nation has been failed by them (IASs) Just passing an exam does not make anyone expert but we see persons with history subject background as secretaries of technical depts.

Administratn should identify more areas where tree plantation and green cover can be identified. Household should be permitted to have only two cars maximum. Urban heat zones can be prevented by builders using environment friendly building material with proper spacing. Banning things on the pretext of reducing pollution is one thing but before Banning the government should make priority arrangements for suitable alternative. Like polythene is banned but paper/jute bags should be readily avalbl

Secondly there are 15 lakh vehicles in chandigarh, but why are the authorities only after challaning 20 thousand commercial vehicles who are actually making people move across cities conveniently and safely . Thirdly, if you talk of common but differentiated responsibility globally for climate change, then according to that private SUV and luxury cars who cause more pollution and traffic congestion should be forbidden for any new registration rather than depriving the poor auto and taxis
