World Mental Health Day is celebrated on 10th October every year, with overall objective of raising issues of mental health around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health. Based on this objective, MoHFW is taking a unique initiative to inspire people with the stories of achievers who fought with any kind of mental health illness. Being open about mental health experiences and the journey of overcoming the same might be beneficial for others who are seeking for help to fight mental illness. To bring together the achievers (who fought with mental illness) as well as the seekers (who are looking for help to overcome mental health illness). Ministry of Health and Family Welfare invites people to share and inspire.

This World Health Day, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare invites people to share how they or someone they know fought with mental illness and came out with flying colours. #ShareToInspire

My mother was affected by a severe form of paranoid. This began because of my father's attempts to ostracize her from the society as he wanted to divorce her off, leaving her with no social support. This wrecked the ambience of the home atmosphere. My mother would literally scream all her waking hours. She would abuse acquaintances, accusing them of planning conspiracies against her. She would even beat me up, accusing me to be allying with all those who were conspiring against her.
