As part of the Government of India’s vision for Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs in collaboration with MyGov invites citizens to actively participate in the initiative themed “Role of Tribal Communities in Viksit Bharat”. This initiative aims to recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions of India’s tribal communities in shaping a sustainable, inclusive, and progressive nation.

Participants are encouraged to share their ideas, suggestions, and perspectives on how tribal knowledge systems, cultural heritage, sustainable practices, and community-led models can serve as guiding forces in India’s socio-economic, cultural, and environmental development.

Discussion is open to all Indian citizens. Selected ideas may be featured in national publications, exhibitions, and included in policy-level discussions.

First of all, the very concept of tribals is not 100% correct. The idea that if a person lives in a forest, they belong to a different category, if they live in the plains, it is wrong. People belonging to the old community are also included in the FC and OBC categories. Their rights are being taken away till date.In every state, all the people who have a long historical background of that state are tribals of this country. There should be internal reservation in the social justice framework and provision in government welfare schemes. Many communities are still not included in the list of tribal groups. Society will progress faster only when tribals in the general and OBC categories are identified and given priority by providing them with internal reservation in their respective categories. For example, if a tribal is found in the OBC category, they should be given ST status in the OBC category and given priority in employment opportunities for the OBC category.

The role of tribal communities in Viksit Bharat (Developed India) is crucial and multifaceted. They are not just beneficiaries of development but also active contributors to India’s growth story, especially in areas like sustainable living, cultural richness, and environmental conservation.
