Bidhannagar has been selected by MoUD, GoI under Smart City Mission Phase-I 100 cities. In the next phase, Bidhannagar has to compete with 98 other cities from across the country to make it into the Top 20 cities which will be taken up for the first round of funding, for the financial year 2015-16.

Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation has to submit a Smart City Proposal (SCP) to the Ministry of Urban Development, GOI which shall outline the extensive consultations held with citizens and stakeholders and discussion with elected representatives, experts and solution providers thereby unraveling the aspiration of citizens matched with the vision as illustrated in the Smart City Proposal.

Citizens and stakeholders of Bidhannagar are requested to post their views and suggestions pertaining to the Proposal.

We need to have the pavements free from encroachments. There is no "smartness" in a so called smart-city if the citizens cannot walk. Every day, we see someone coming and setting up his/her stalls. Part of the problem stems from the lack of employment opportunity. However, we need to free up the pavements. We cannot have vendors occupying the free space.
