वाराणसी को भारत की संस्कृति का उद्गम स्थल माना गया है। यह विद्वानों, लेखकों, कवियों और विचारकों का शहर है। गंगा वाराणसी से बहती है, लेकिन अफसोस की बात है कि यहाँ भी गंगा की हालत दयनीय है। इस कार्य में शहर के घाटों के विकास की योजना और वाराणसी में गंगा को साफ करने के लिए योजना बनाने से संबंधी सुझाव अपेक्षित है।

Ghats in Varanasi is to be redesigned to imbibe the high morals & sense of responsibility for maintaining the purity of river water. There should not be obscene or advertising or political posters, displays on the ghats or on the way to ghats. There is need to redesign & revamp the buildings & roads o ghats without loosing heritage essence of the city. Consensus of all the stakeholders is the first step to Varanasi Re-development Ardour Task (VRAT).
