The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation is pleased to inform you that our city has been selected through a competitive process for Smart City Mission under the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD). In the next phase, our city has to compete with 98 other cities to make it to the top 20 to be taken up for first round of funding, for year 2015-16.

The city needs to formulate a vision, mission and a proposal in consultation with citizens and other stakeholders. We urge you to share your ideas and be an integral part of the journey towards making Vizag a smart city!

“My Visakhapatnam of Tomorrow” – A vision Competition

• The question you need to answer is “What is your vision for Vizag smart city”?
• Maximum word limit – 100 words.

The best 3 Vision Statements would be declared as winners.

The competition shall be closed on 1st November, 2015.

Prize Money (Cash / Vouchers / Gift items):

• 1st Prize: INR 10,000/-
• 2nd Prize: INR 6,000/-
• 3rd Prize: INR 4,000/-
• Consolation Prizes (25 nos.): INR 1,000/- each

How to Submit

All the entries must be submitted online through https://mygov.in.

Terms and Conditions

1. All participants must clearly mention following details in their entries:

• Name
• Mother’s Name
• Father’s Name
• Address
• Age
• Contact number (with area code)

2. The winner will be chosen on the basis of simplicity of thought, realism in ideas, and originality in content.

3. The decision of GVMC on selection of top three winners and consolation prize winners shall be final. GVMC officials can participate in the competition but will not be eligible for rewards.

Being a coastal and industrial city, we need to focus on 1) Control of pollutants such as petroleum coke and gases 2) Potable water supply to all corners 3) Civilian safety systems 4) Advanced sanitation techniques and underground drainage system 5) Underground cables and wires 6) Public toilets and maintenance 7) Effective traffic control 8) Treatment of industrial waste water before releasing to sea 9) Develop warning and rescue operations to fight cyclones 10) Cleanliness and vegetation

should maintain the parking places for all vehicles. should maintain the separate lines for all non-public transport vehicles( like autos and commercial vehicles)( these are never entered into the main road). construct the foot over bridges. main issues for vizag for several years: 1. Gopala patnam railway bridge 2. NAD flyover 3. Railway station bulb shaped track line to connect the Railway station to Gopala patnam so it will minimize the hours of timing to wait at outer points.

My visakhapatnam has good coastal area and natural harbour the smart city should take advantage of it, Good marine products exporting and highly sophisticated port is needed. citizen identification and tracking system is needed, smart metro transport system is needed, many 5 start hotels are needed to attract investors, IT hub is needed at give software soulutions, many industries are to be established, security cams are to be established, educationally it should improve

Polluted free city Agriculture at priority Drainage system should be improved Coastal line especially beaches should be clean and developed as tourist spots Water supplied and vegetables,fruits etc., should be hygiene Traffic controlling measures must be imposed Education standards(in govt.) and fees(in private) schools to be considered Public parks are to be developed Recreation places are to be developed public toilets are to be developed
