The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation is pleased to inform you that our city has been selected through a competitive process for Smart City Mission under the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD). In the next phase, our city has to compete with 98 other cities to make it to the top 20 to be taken up for first round of funding, for year 2015-16.

The city needs to formulate a vision, mission and a proposal in consultation with citizens and other stakeholders. We urge you to share your ideas and be an integral part of the journey towards making Vizag a smart city!

“My Visakhapatnam of Tomorrow” – A vision Competition

• The question you need to answer is “What is your vision for Vizag smart city”?
• Maximum word limit – 100 words.

The best 3 Vision Statements would be declared as winners.

The competition shall be closed on 1st November, 2015.

Prize Money (Cash / Vouchers / Gift items):

• 1st Prize: INR 10,000/-
• 2nd Prize: INR 6,000/-
• 3rd Prize: INR 4,000/-
• Consolation Prizes (25 nos.): INR 1,000/- each

How to Submit

All the entries must be submitted online through https://mygov.in.

Terms and Conditions

1. All participants must clearly mention following details in their entries:

• Name
• Mother’s Name
• Father’s Name
• Address
• Age
• Contact number (with area code)

2. The winner will be chosen on the basis of simplicity of thought, realism in ideas, and originality in content.

3. The decision of GVMC on selection of top three winners and consolation prize winners shall be final. GVMC officials can participate in the competition but will not be eligible for rewards.

In my view - starting steps can be taken for Smart city vizag can be: More vehicle parking slots.Avoid municipal water leakage/wastage.More effective methods of wastage segregation/reuse. Citizen participation in it.Provide more Dustbins at public places/shopping areas.Provide toilet facilities at some areas. Widen roads at some places to avoid traffic congestion. Increase awareness in people to keep city clean. More green cover in the city.

The city of "DESTINY" stands for D-Drainage(underdrianage) facilities in rural visakhapatnam E-E-services improvisation S-SECURITY measures,cctv cameras all over the city T-Traffic regulation,seperate autostations to avoid accidents I-Infrastructure building(governmental buildings) N-Neatness by adopting recycling measures with ecological parameters Y-Youth employment in the govt job vacancies for better fuctioning of services to people. Need to strenght and health care system in urban slum Construct one community health center for every one lakh population Integration of the govt services major junctions 108 system abulances to be increased a commen integrated control room involving fire police review water and emargency health care officials with proper linkage transport and communication of patients in case of disasters and etc it should be perminantly placed at a every central places of the city Tax concession

Municipality staff should have responsibility in cleaning drains at all streets but not only main roads.under ground electricity Overhead bridges in highway to skip siginals.pollution control .plants in every Street. Govt school and hosipitals promotion.

Please implement anticlockwise signalling in all junctions to have uniformity, and to reduce traffic jams. It is being run with good results at Khajana Jn., i.e., Rly Station to RTC Complex Road. It will not cost any extra amount. You just need to change the wiring accordingly. It can be implemented with smart signalling also. It is fool proof. It can be used from 3 road junction to "N" number of road junctions. Please find the attached photo for better understanding. Cell-09985193366

Vizag is getting populated with both vehicle and men. 1. Do not approve house plans without proper parking places. 2.Traffic regulation is a must 3.Autos need metering. They are looting passengers. 'Athidi devo bhava' is not followed by many. 4.Vacant house sites should be used for parking vehicles, charge them. 5.Garbage & Drainage cleaning is a must. charge the scavengers for failure. 6. Bring the UGD in action ASAP. 7. Monitor pollution NO vehicle day in the city.
