With over 1.5 lakh Post Offices, the Department of Posts has the most widely distributed Postal network in the world. The goal of the Rural ICT Project is to provide a low power technology solution (ICT Device) to each Branch Postmaster (BPM) which will enable each of approximately 130,000 Extra Departmental Post Offices (EDOs) to improve the level of services being offered to rural customers with an objective to improve the quality of service, add value to services and achieve “financial inclusion” of un-banked rural population

The selected entry will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and two runners up entries will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 2,000 each.

HERE I SUBMIT THE INVITED NAME FOR RURAL ICT PROJECT I suggest the project name for Rural ICT Project of Department of Posts BharatNet-POST “BharatNet-Post Office-Services Transformation” [Low Power Tech Solution for extension of internet access from PoP Bharatnet to post offices] As Post Offices and BharatNet are both focused on up to 6.5 lakh villages and should there be any ICT work that needs to be done at Post Office level, it has to use the connectivity of BharatNet PAN India.

'SANCHAR SATHI ' in my opinion 'SANCHAR SATHI' is the most appropriate, simple and suitable name for the ICT project.

My suggestion for the Project name for Rural Information & Communication Technology (Rural ICT Project) of Department of Posts (DOP) is 'ARICT - ASSIGNMENT FOR RURAL INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY' The abbreviation is derived from 'ARIKT', a Hindi word which means non-void. Government is aiming to make 1.5 lakhs post offices in untouched villages and thus filling those voids still left in India. Thus, title relates to aim ofnproject and mother-tongue of Indians.
