Section 161 of Railway act indicates “If any person driving or leading a vehicle is negligent in crossing an unmanned level crossing, he shall be punishable with imprisonment which may extend to one year.”

Section 131 of the Motor Vehicle Act indicates that “Every driver of a motor vehicle at the approach of any unguarded railway level crossing shall cause the vehicle to stop and the driver of the vehicle shall cause the conductor or cleaner or attendant or any other person in the vehicle to walk up to the level crossing and ensure that no train or trolley is approaching from either side and then pilot the motor vehicle across such level crossing, and where no conductor or cleaner or attendant or any other person is available in the vehicle, the driver of the vehicle shall get down from the vehicle himself to ensure that no train or trolley is approaching from either side before the railway track is crossed”

However due to non-following of relevant rules by the road users, many accidents are occurring resulting in loss of precious life  at unmanned level crossings.

Suggest solutions for reducing accidents at unmanned level crossings.

A simple mechanical automated signal post at every unmanned level crossing can reduce the no. of accidents drastically. Wy not ask the IITs for easy design and maintenance.

Indian bullter trains must be built underground to save land using fast tunneling and rapid construction (FTRC) technology...which can help dig tunnels using TBM (Tunnel Boring Machines) and use pre-cast concrete monoblocks to co-construct tunnel rapidly...we can allot tunneling contracts for 200-500 kms to individual private firms on each bullet train routes and build 50000 km High speed underground railways with 400-500km/hr speed in India by 2024. Yes We Can

Cleanliness of railway stations and also trains can be improved significantly if administrative heads like station superintendents , divisional mangers show initiative in ensuring these hygiene. Their periodic visit along with concerned officials would only bring accountability . Water supply inside train is another concern area for passengers. Toilets are dry almost always. Why can n't the guard or any designated TT inside the train be made accountable for these basic amenities.

I have observed cleanliness at railway station and rail coaches. Thanks for it. But main problems are Porter (coolies) and taxi/auto etc. They are charging as per their wish. If some one is not able to carry his luggage he has to pay as much as they ask. This problem is faced by senior citizens, family having small kids. It becomes serious when platform tickets are not available due to festival rush >less...

We can reduce such accidents by an automatic anouncement system through loudspeakers in such unmanned level crossing because it is observed that vehicles cross the line by seeing the clear path but suddenly a fast movong train comes and such incident happens. if they will warn through . announcment untill the train crosses we can reduce the such accidents.
