Trains must run in time. Cleanliness must be maintained in the compartment. Privy must be provided in the local train too. All the level crossings must be provided with gates/ attendants. Cleanliness must be maintained in all the platforms. Jai Hind

Prepare under passes or over bridges. No other idea will work in India.

Providing Wi-Fi in trains and stations, giving contracts to pvt. cos. for cleanliness at not only stations but even trains should be focussed in Rail Budget. Govt. should instead of increasing rail fares, generate revenues from other sources such as build malls restaurants and give for rent/lease to pvt parties on Railways' land; increase fees on parking at stations etc.

Automatic warning system and closing poles won't help in India, Only way to stop this accidents is by closing all Unmanned Level Crossing by building under bridges or flyovers.

Unmanned crossings often have poles or pillars on either side to create a sensory barrier. This barrier unfortunately often happens to obstruct the vision of those looking left/right, especially those in a car, as their height-of-eye is much lower. Said car users have to creep forward to view the track, at which point their car's front is already straddling the track! A redesign of these pillars would help improving the visibility.

The primary problem here is that drivers do not bother to look left or right before crossing. This should be tackled during the tests for getting a driver's licence

Technology to the rescue: install a pressure sensor about 1 km before the unmanned crossing that turns on a flashing red light and beeps at the level crossing. A similar sensor 500m on the other side can be used to turn the light and sound off
