Section 161 of Railway act indicates “If any person driving or leading a vehicle is negligent in crossing an unmanned level crossing, he shall be punishable with imprisonment which may extend to one year.”

Section 131 of the Motor Vehicle Act indicates that “Every driver of a motor vehicle at the approach of any unguarded railway level crossing shall cause the vehicle to stop and the driver of the vehicle shall cause the conductor or cleaner or attendant or any other person in the vehicle to walk up to the level crossing and ensure that no train or trolley is approaching from either side and then pilot the motor vehicle across such level crossing, and where no conductor or cleaner or attendant or any other person is available in the vehicle, the driver of the vehicle shall get down from the vehicle himself to ensure that no train or trolley is approaching from either side before the railway track is crossed”

However due to non-following of relevant rules by the road users, many accidents are occurring resulting in loss of precious life  at unmanned level crossings.

Suggest solutions for reducing accidents at unmanned level crossings.

a very reliable and solution to this problem is Train Actuated Warning System(TAWS) developed by few Indian Manufacturers of Telecom and signal systems way back in 1997 while at same time many MNC and PSUs had failed to develop this system. Succesful system were installed and commissioned in WRly few locations, but due to some unknown reason this technology which is cost effective and reliable, its use was discontinued.

I can suggest some views on cleanliness. To maintain cleanliness in toilets in trains I have an idea, we have many junctions across the country, just increase halt time by 5 mins in each and every junction on the rout of each train and allow railway sweepers to clean each and every toilet of train. Once done then only give the signal. This will help the passenger as well as railway in maintaining cleanliness.

In the upcoming annual rail budget instead of declaring new trains which again increase the overall expenditure just expand the routes of existing trains

It is noticed the Female General Compartment in Trains are not having any mobile charging point. For the safety of Woman many mobile apps, helpline numbers have been made. But it wont be useful if the Mobile is not having battery for same. So request Indian Railways to provide charging point in Female General Compartment as a basic amenity.
