The country is well endowed with many metallic and non-metallic mineral resources.  India is a leading player in respect of many non fuel minerals including, iron ore, bauxite, dolomite, lime stone and mica.  Mining sector (non-fuel) currently accounts for approx 0.5% of GDP.  For accelerated economic growth on sustainable basis, this sector has to grow at a much faster pace to secure   a higher percentage in the GDP.
 
Scientific, sustainable and transparent mining practices require well trained manpower.  Skill development not only enhances productivity and safety at work place, but more importantly, it prepares the manpower to adapt to the new state of art technologies. Currently this sector employs around 0.2 Million workforce which is estimated to grow to 0.3 Million in next 10 years.

-Sub-oriented training era has gone. It does not develop innovative attitude and more over India as yet not on the path of sustained growth, where subject skills has sufficient scope to remain continue. - Class room environment, followed by sufficient adequate opportunities [growing economy] is a self operational skill training process. -Subject oriented training will land nation excel in some area but create imbalances btw needs and availability over a period of time.

Practice along with theory is the best way to develop skill. Tutors must update the theory with practical knowledge as is done in western world. Western theory and working condition may not suit us always. Here safety norm, proper usage of equipment, working environments, emoluments all plays important role to produce quality product in cost effective manner. Here lies the skill of a working hand.

Subject oriented training will be more effective but required theoretical knowledge should be included in that training course.Its not a subject to develop in the general class room environment .But such training also requires proper duration of course and study of theoretical aspects.

Secondary Education is a crucial stage in the educational hierarchy as it prepares the students for higher education and also for the world of work. Classes IX and X constitute the secondary stage, whereas classes XI and XII are designated as the higher secondary stage. The normal age group of the children in secondary classes is 14-16 whereas it is 16-18 for higher secondary classes. The rigor of the secondary and higher secondary stage, enables Indian students to compete successfully

skills in the mining sectors can be best developed by on job trainings as mining is a physical process and most of the practises followed are a bit deviated from standards to suit the workers or to maximize the profit obtained from the activity. On the job trainings to raw minds or with a bit of basics is best practise as raw minds are best to accept and grasp without making stereotypes. training people after motivating them will also help

The masters degree (M.Tech) holders from IITs and NITs aren't given any priority/preference to govt/psu jobs. while Bachelors degree (B.Tech) holders enjoy complete exception from appearing in all India mock written tests and are directly interviewed in campus interviews. While M.Tech students from same college are striving hard to crack written tests after 2 years of completing B.Tech course. Their only mistake was to decide on pursuing Higher degree from IITs/NITs

I have personally seen many Govt companies come to IITs to recruit only B.tech students only. M.Techs are not even allowed to appear for interviews . Though we have cleared all India entrance exam(GATE) weren't considered to these jobs. Many of my friends who desperately want to work for a government company couldn't do so and hence they settled for some foreign company and earn every day to serve our country. This scenario is discouraging many students to pursue higher education.
