Skill in mining sector can be best developed when classroom teaching is combined with field training (each having 50% weightage) . Such trainees should also be paid stipend for such field training days. Trainees should also be made accountable for the responsibilities assigned to them during training period.

Sometimes it can be 5 and sometimes it can be three as well. The classrom environment provides you the knowledge base, the basic learnings required to develop understanding of the industry; the regulations, the hazards involved and above all the latest happenings in the global environment. There are many institutes in India which are doing a commendable job in this area, the most prominent being the Indian School of Mines (ISM) in Dhanbad. With the background knowledge of the subject, suboriented training apprenticeship shall become very effective. ISM normally offers the Degree Program at the undergraduate and the graduate level + plus a few executive development programs. What it needs to develop and diversify into is offering short term certificate programs, trainings to people interested. The subjects may vary from the technical to economics to developing entreprenuerial abilities.
