The country is well endowed with many metallic and non-metallic mineral resources.  India is a leading player in respect of many non fuel minerals including, iron ore, bauxite, dolomite, lime stone and mica.  Mining sector (non-fuel) currently accounts for approx 0.5% of GDP.  For accelerated economic growth on sustainable basis, this sector has to grow at a much faster pace to secure   a higher percentage in the GDP.
 
Scientific, sustainable and transparent mining practices require well trained manpower.  Skill development not only enhances productivity and safety at work place, but more importantly, it prepares the manpower to adapt to the new state of art technologies. Currently this sector employs around 0.2 Million workforce which is estimated to grow to 0.3 Million in next 10 years.

This should primarily be on the job training for lower level workers but there should be some basic classroom learning ( non exam oriented ) which will help trainees to learn about the dimensions of their job, directions of their effort, their role in overall national perspective. Once this understanding is inculcated, efficiency and effectiveness of skill training will increase which will ultimately result in higher productivity since it will instil a sense of purpose among trainees.

To develop skill in the younger generation, first our teachers are to be skill oriented. Today the irony is that the talented stuff does not want to enter the teaching field. Practical classes in the School and colleges must be rigorous. Practicals must be given more weightage than theory and CBSE must change the ratio bring this change

According to me, only to be degree or diploma holder is enough. what matters is the proper skills to do the job with complete perfection and so is the work called PERFECT

Introduce mining skills ,safety ,& various methods of transportation of mined material ,types of diging machines etc as a subject in engineering .

We should combine both class room studies and trainings and it should introduces as digree and diploma after twelth class in all the govt and govt added schools..pvt ogrnization will automatically follow the same when they see the success rate in it. Govt main object should be two-- 1- provide multiple skilled job orietned options to the students after 12th, 2- keep in mind that the country utilize it 100%.. it will do ... requirements are honest efforts and more practical studies and training Jai Hind

I think that there is no necessary for degree or diplomo, sub-oriented training is the best option for all people to improve the skill sets, so that there will be less time consumption as well as voluntaring interests in the minds of people.
