Government needs do to promote the Tourism Industry in India 1-Allow corporate sponsorship for heritage buildings. 2-Create experiences, not sightseeing spots 3-Build great roads and access points. 4-Aggressive tourism marketing strategies. 5-Sell niche tourism areas separately

1. Select 20 best tourist attractions from India and fully develop them in next 2 years. E.g. Taj must be cleaned from all sides and a world class infrastructure must be created for travel, stay and activities. Than bombard the world with information and you see the results. India is not a tourism brand. 2. Select 10 tourism activities, e.g. cycling, mountaineering, ice skating, and build world class infrastructure for these. 3. Select yoga and Ayurveda and promote them world over. This it has potential to earn many billions of dollars. Health tourism, a big, big idea for this century and who better than India is place to reap it. We only need a world class infrastructure, including regularizing and monitoring places, travel and stay arrangements, long term and short term and curtail fake gurus.
