Digital Locker is one of the key initiatives under the Digital India Programme. A beta version (http://digitallocker.gov.in) of the same has been released on 10th Feb. 2015, by Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Govt. of India.

Digital Locker is aimed at minimizing the usage of physical documents and enable sharing of e-documents across agencies. The sharing of the e-documents will be done through registered repositories thereby ensuring the authenticity of the documents online. Residents can also upload their own electronic documents and digitally sign them using the e-sign facility. These digitally signed documents can be shared with Government organizations or other entities.

Key features of the Digital Locker System are:

• 10 MB of free space in digital locker to residents to access their documents through Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) and also securely store e-documents.
• e-sign online service to digitally sign documents

Residents are invited to use the Beta version of the Digital Locker System and provide suggestions and feedback on the same. Suggestions are also invited on the use cases for services which can be additionally provided by the Digital Locker System.

I would like to bring to the attention of the government of India the ‘Equation Group,’ the Scariest Cyber-Espionage Group. The below recent article on 18th Feb 2015 explains it all: http://observer.com/2015/02/equation-group/ While we have to build Digital India, ensuring SECURITY is of PRIME IMPORTANCE. And Anti-spying mechanisms needs to be put in place effectively.

Right now millions of paper for ID proofs is given wherever proofs are required to be submitted. This is a waste of natural resource. Also an ID card is of size 8.6"x5.4" and hence both address and ID proofs can be submitted in single sheet there by saving at least half the number of papers. With the Digital Locker initiative complete cut down on papers can be achieved since the documents are authenticated and signed digitally. But 10MB space is quite less for storage of documents.

If a mall is going to setup then a solar plan should be mandatory. It will the power to light up the single bulb in the house of a poor farmer. Thanks

Dear Government, I would like to share my thoughts over the Ganga snan. In our country most of the ghat are not having any kind of locker facility. Locker facility at the ghat can reduce the no. Of pick pockets and thefts. Government can plan for something at least at renowned ghat like, har ki poudi, banaras, sangam allahabad etc.
