Digital Locker is one of the key initiatives under the Digital India Programme. A beta version (http://digitallocker.gov.in) of the same has been released on 10th Feb. 2015, by Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Govt. of India.

Digital Locker is aimed at minimizing the usage of physical documents and enable sharing of e-documents across agencies. The sharing of the e-documents will be done through registered repositories thereby ensuring the authenticity of the documents online. Residents can also upload their own electronic documents and digitally sign them using the e-sign facility. These digitally signed documents can be shared with Government organizations or other entities.

Key features of the Digital Locker System are:

• 10 MB of free space in digital locker to residents to access their documents through Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) and also securely store e-documents.
• e-sign online service to digitally sign documents

Residents are invited to use the Beta version of the Digital Locker System and provide suggestions and feedback on the same. Suggestions are also invited on the use cases for services which can be additionally provided by the Digital Locker System.

Security Improvements also require Providing a Digital Locker System client component software for Android, windows,Linux which uses its own set of http://www.cca.gov.in based/issued CA certificate & doesnot depend on Operating System's SSL Certificate Keystore of trusted CAs is the need of the hour. Data Transmission must also support multi-level encryption apart from SSL which is easily breached by violating sub rule 20 on cross certification in IT Act 2000 commonly found violated in India.

Without API Specifications,Beta Testing remains incomplete.Never release a product without Open Data Access API specification standards documentation.System & Solution Architects are requested to make such systems future proof & focus on reusability, programmer friendliness.Start by providing say a UDDI registry service with API documentation to interface & integrate with any system, ofcourse with proper authentication standards defined in API specification.

Good. But with minor Architecture Flaw,Beta Testing it without cca.gov.in issued SSL certificate can cause Personally Identifiable Citizen data theft cases. Create linked multilevel classified rule engine query-able semantic datasets using graph databases to easily create relationship mappings between citizen & govt data objects, define information classification policy, severity etc. Data Islands like Digital Locker System can be an effective good start, but may not be an efficient good end.

There are reports that You told the Supreme Court that government is not insisting on aadhar number. What are you doing for digital locker. You have made aadhar compulsory. Do you mean to say that digital locker does not come under government and in that case are you not asking people to store data in non governmental cloud ? First be truthful to citizens and the Supreme Court.

NAMO- With the increase in the petrol and Diesel prices in TELANGANA we are all still charged 2 rupees EXTRA per litre for VAT which was increased due to the fall in Oil prices- this needs to be corrected; As the rise and fall of prices monitored by central government and state govt looks not benefitial to a common TAX PAYER ----- Price set by central govt. is not same in all the states and price set by the state govt is not strictly followed all accross the state. Each petrol pump charges with a diference of 40 to 50 paise per litre - which is an open loot from a common man and TAX PAYERS ;; Please justify our taes paid and please monitor the divided states of TELANGANA and ANDHRA save the TAX PAYERS
