Every year 27th September is celebrated as World Tourism Day. This year the theme of World Tourism Day is Tourism and Rural Development. Tourism helps rural communities hold onto their unique natural and cultural heritage, supporting conservation projects, including those safeguarding endangered species, lost traditions or flavours. Tourism has proven to be a lifeline for many rural communities. The sector is not just a leading source of employment, particularly for women and youth but it also provides opportunities for territorial cohesion and socio-economic inclusion for even the most remote regions.
Our villages and the people who live there are a true custodians and manifestation of our culture.
As we work towards more sustainable development of our country, developing related hard and soft infrastructure and promoting tourism in rural India is much required.

Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with MyGov invites you to share your views ideas on Rural India- How it can leverage tourism.

I think all rural places in India have its own history. So I think prepare a creative statue and museum showing the history of that place with animated videos of that history. And doing something more creative. This would results attracts the tourism contribute in gdp and also creates employment for those people who wants to work from their villages. From the earning of these things. I would request our government to built schools in rural areas for the better future of kids. Thanks Akshit

Tourists are concerned with safety, freedom, leisure and comfort. Mostly villages are remote and unsafe in night to roam freely outside the villages. Person on a trip will want to wear whatever they like and not be judged or feel unsafe. So safety needs to be of at most priority. Proper Electricity and connectivity will enhance leisure and comfort.

Rural infrastructure -road, electricity plays very important role rural tourism. For example in my village (Dapoli Maharashtra) there are more than 30 spectacular rock cut caves of Pandavas, but not proper infrastructure. like worst condition of roads , tourist can't come here. so rural infrastructure is important in every rural areas for tourism development

Very Good Inivesitive by India Government Between 5-6 Villages there should be a large Park which will be attract to Tourist and that villagers also there should be Huts for tourist Stay toilet facility Light and Water also.. My Village Shop Picture Attached

जैसाकि पूरे भारतवर्ष में कहीं ना कहीं किसी रूप में हर छोटा से छोटा गाँव भी किसी ना किसी प्रमुख और प्राचीन एतिहासिक और पौराणिक स्थल से जुड़ा हुआ है। इन छोटे स्थानों को पर्यटन क्षेत्र में लाने के लिये इन्हीं मुख्य स्थलों से स्थलों तक(pilgrimages to pilgrimages) एक कॉरिडोर का निर्माण होना चाहिये। उनके बीच के छोटे स्थानों का मुख्य स्थानों से जो भी सम्बद्ध है उसे प्रमोट और विकसित करना चाहिये, बाकी इन सारी प्रक्रिया में सरकार द्वारा भ्रष्टाचार निषेध को प्राथमिकता देना होगी.....

यदि हम गांव में टूरिज्म को बढ़ावा देना चाहते है तो प्रत्येक गांव देहात की कोई ना कोई परंपरा रही यदि हम सभी परंपराओं को पुनर्जीवित कर दे और लोगो के अंदर उनकी परंपरा का स्वाभिमान भर दे तो निश्चित रूप से हम इस कार्य में सफलता प्राप्त कर सकते हैं।

We need to focus on develop infrastructure at rural places such as good connectivity of internet, electricity and neatness along with the youngsters to learn other local and also foreign languages

Government and private sector thru CSR initiatives should develop remote villages with necessary infrastructure, tourist should be informed of the scenic places in our villages it would encourage villagers to put up shops with local products, thus generating employment, income thru these initiatives it is necessary for Gram panchayats local Government bodies to help boost tourism by cooperating with locals and giving them incentives, grants, cheap loans and other facilities to start business

The first step to increase tourism in village areas is maintain cleaniness. The slums must be hygienic , for the people and for the cleaniness of nature. It will make villages appear attractive . We can take examples of villages from the north eastern states , like Assam. Wherever possible , grow ornamental plants as they are pretty and useful. This will help the people living there to earn Artifical lakes must be made . Gardens should be maintained. And IMPORTANT, houses must be decorated

Village culture in India is different from other cities. When we talk about rural tourism it is important to provide theme with rural culture and activities which help them to increase their income and working experience. Provide modern technology,melas, exhibition etc.
