Corporation of Chennai is preparing a proposal towards Smart City Challenge which would include city wide smart urban solutions as well as identification of areas within the city for its implementation.

The proposal would be defined primarily based on voice of Chennai residents. An extensive citizen engagement programme is established by Corporation of Chennai to document the views and concernsfor the same.

Residents may post their opinion and ideas on civic services such as transport, parking, water supply, sanitation, energy, housing, IT solutions,health, education, safety and security. Your views, opinion and solutions on urban issues faced by Chennai would not only support a better tomorrow for Chennaites, it will also make Chennai a strong contender for getting shortlisted as one of the first 20 cities in India to implement Smart City Solutions in Phase 1.

Chennai citizen and community is its biggest strength. Let’s participate to make this proposal inclusive and meaningful for every common man, every citizen.

Increased urbanization and pressure on natural resources provide many reasons to support the case for the smart city, be that creating a ‘greener’ environment, with more efficient use of energy and water, or simply accommodating the global demands for better services and facilities for growing populations. Achieving these goals calls for intelligent use and sharing of existing information within a city, to target services where they are most needed.

Stray cattle should be controlled in the city. Rehabilitation of beggars is also an important task.

In the smart city of Chennai each house should be given two suitable plastic trash bins for recycling and Plastic.The trash van should to collect the wastes in alternate days.That is Monday,Wednesday, and saturday

Plastic concrete roads to be made in the smart city similar to Dutch Rotterdam city roads.There are many benefits for using recycled plastic than asphalt to a driving surface and it would lost longer.The roads would be hollow leaving room for power and utility cables.

The idea of smart city will really make our city a better place to live.my opinion is that first of all an integrated area(SHOPING SEZ) for all shopping and wholesale needs to be provided away from the city like the INDUSTRIAL SEZ (sriperumbadur) ,AUTOMOBILE SEZ (Oragadam) where all infrastructure like Wider roads, Parking slots can easily provided. And the existing traders at TNagar,Broadway,etc .. to be moved there so that the city conjestion can be reduced to a greater extent.

RAIN WATER HARVESTING FOR ROADS: No proper storm water drains even main roads. Road contractors cement skirting between road & footpath. Water stagnates affects traffic, health, as also wasted. PROPOSAL Drill & Provide 10cm angular holes every 30ms Fit PVC pipe & trap cover, for water to flow through & charge ground water also

INFRASTRUCTURE : FOOTPATHS - preference to pedestrians. All encroachments, vendors,slum dwellers in roads to be removed. TRANSPORT Integration to be done . Road maintenance to be world class . Less Traffic Jams in Good Roads Lane system to be introduced for Two,Three and Four wheelers.

WATER BODY RESTORATION : Lakes, Ponds and Rivers in the city need to restored to its original capacity and pollution to the water body to be stopped RAIN WATER HARVESTING : To be implemented in all residential, commercial institutional, Government buildings in a scientific way .All storm water drain collection to be diverted to a water body storage and not to sea. WASTE MANAGEMENT : waste segregation at source and Waste to be converted to Energy and fuel
