Corporation of Chennai is preparing a proposal towards Smart City Challenge which would include city wide smart urban solutions as well as identification of areas within the city for its implementation.

The proposal would be defined primarily based on voice of Chennai residents. An extensive citizen engagement programme is established by Corporation of Chennai to document the views and concernsfor the same.

Residents may post their opinion and ideas on civic services such as transport, parking, water supply, sanitation, energy, housing, IT solutions,health, education, safety and security. Your views, opinion and solutions on urban issues faced by Chennai would not only support a better tomorrow for Chennaites, it will also make Chennai a strong contender for getting shortlisted as one of the first 20 cities in India to implement Smart City Solutions in Phase 1.

Chennai citizen and community is its biggest strength. Let’s participate to make this proposal inclusive and meaningful for every common man, every citizen.

>Integrated waste management system. >Active recycling facilities. >Adequate play grounds & parks for kids, youth & elderly; should not be reduced to streets. >Quality wifi hotspots >Maintain historical buildings >Make a public notice wall where all the posters can be stuck >Renewable energy source must be primary >Reclaim & preserve suburban marsh areas and inland water sources >Special feed areas for cattle >Promotion and preservation of Tree cover and natural habitats >Broaden roads

waste management should be given foremost importance. scientific and practical approach is necessary. there is a product @ http://reddonatura.com/ which claims that compost can be made in just two days. before implementing in a big way it may be given a try. and also the rain water must be compelsorily collected in a more scientific way and the methods for each area should be specific because how we did in saidapet did not work out in peumbakkam. public awareness has to be created too.

RTI Login and reply through mail Separate portal for logging RTI application and the reply for the RTI applications to be done as a soft copy. This could reduce the cost of government of couriering and photocopying and the closure can be done before the time line

All public transport should be connected well with good parking facility & ticketing system should be for all means of transports like Bus, Train, MRTS, Metro, etc with parking tickets. Multi level parking facility for CARS to avoid road side parking in congested areas espicially in North chennai

Parks should be maintained well as in Bangalore. CCTV cameras to be fixed in all road with wireless cameras & the Login should be given to the conerned street house owners for viewing in internet.

Garbages should be removed daily during night times to avoid traffic during School timings. Dust bins should be kept in all roads to maintain Road cleanliness. Tree plantation in road sides where ever possible & the water for the trees supplied should be Sewage Treated water.

Improve Bus ticketing facility All the AC buses in chennai in the first phase could be updated with the smart card machines where reloaded cards can be used for purchasing tickets. This can reduce the people traveling without tickets, no need of conductor which will reduce the operating cost. No reconciliation need at the day end as cards are reloaded where the MTC would have got the amount beforehand. Improve customer experience

Basic Ammenities Like Rain Water stagnation in Roads for small rains should be avoided by easy drainage facility, Street lights should be in condition. Wi fi facility throughout the city without any interruption. All complaints should be attend immediately. Water facility should be provided for all houses without mixing with drainage water
