Corporation of Chennai is preparing a proposal towards Smart City Challenge which would include city wide smart urban solutions as well as identification of areas within the city for its implementation.

The proposal would be defined primarily based on voice of Chennai residents. An extensive citizen engagement programme is established by Corporation of Chennai to document the views and concernsfor the same.

Residents may post their opinion and ideas on civic services such as transport, parking, water supply, sanitation, energy, housing, IT solutions,health, education, safety and security. Your views, opinion and solutions on urban issues faced by Chennai would not only support a better tomorrow for Chennaites, it will also make Chennai a strong contender for getting shortlisted as one of the first 20 cities in India to implement Smart City Solutions in Phase 1.

Chennai citizen and community is its biggest strength. Let’s participate to make this proposal inclusive and meaningful for every common man, every citizen.

ENERGY EFFICIENT CITY - Radical solutions that facilitate the progress from the current energy model towards smart energy systems: smart grids, advanced architectures for electric systems or microgrids, among others. Components, equipments and algorithms for the integration of the main applications and energy systems: photovoltaic inverters, wind power converters, energy storage, electric cars, etc.

Specific developments to reduce climate change impacts are - Hydrological models (flooding linked to climate change) - Analysis of the influence of the urban heat island effect on citizens' comfortability and living - Monitoring networks for impact forecasts (CO2 measurement in urban environments, river-level rise, weather forecasts, alerts, etc.)

3.METRO WATER: Electronic display on water quality shall be displayed at every water tax collection point, daily to ensure safe drinking water is supplied. More & more on line services to be encouraged for getting new connection, tax payment etc.

2.VEHICLE PARKING: We need to have separate vehicle parking area within 1 km radius of our residence, especially in areas which came under Chennai Corporation recently to prevent parking of vehicles on road! Corporation can levy a nominal parking fee 1
