Railway station suggestion:
Local train passes or tickets should be made smart. ticket counter should not be near the train or on the platform. There should be turnstiles to enter the platform. People should swipe the ticket on the turnstile and then they move in. This will avoid travelling without ticket. This will avoid thiefs as well, they can't escape easily after snatching anything.

Public transport infrastructure has to be enhanced. And there should be a limit to the number of people inside a bus/share auto/auto/taxi. Once this rule is implemented, definitely there will be a huge change in the mindset. Public will start using the public transport without any sulk. Making people comfortable and happy will lead to a smart city indeed.

We can make use of student power. Corporation can have word with all colleges to render support. There will be many willing students to help during weekends. Many might also have projects to create energy out of waste, recycling options, waste reduction ideas etc..
Corporation can employ good painters to do designs on all walls in chennai to avoid posters. They can give separate slots of places for posters. The posters should be avoided on bridges at least (underneath pillars).

Install boards on speed limit.
In every street a placard must be placed on the speed limit that we should follow in that street. This will create awareness among people (two wheeler/car) and avoid sudden breaks or mishaps.

A secured feeling is one of the most critical feature of the modern cities. Many people dont realise it. Security of women like mothers, sisters along with wife is very crucial. nowadays reporting of fake cases of dowry, sexual harassment, kidnap are increasing. so the need of the hour is to have cctv cameras not only at all the major junctions and places but also in each and every locality. This will reduce false complaints and also help to verify false allegations by women or identify guilty.

It is important to take necessary steps to increase internet speed. And yes, the need for Wifi in railway stations and bus terminus seems important just like in airport.
Construction of rest areas (public toilets and small snack/juice shops under one big roof) is a suggestion. These can be built in highways at least so that people don't feel insecure to use restrooms in such areas and they will no longer be lonely. Wifi in such locations is also suggested.

As a step towards smart city people should get receipts in mail for paying taxes. This should become effective for those who prefer to pay online or in person. Avoiding manual receipts will save time and paper. Also, people do not need to keep the receipt for proof since it ll be available in email.

Smart city ..the term usually strikes the mind of many youths with the thought of Wi-Fi being provided at several public locations .The first and prior thing if wifi is to be provided at public places is the restrictions that the service providers has to provide on the acces of entertainment sites.

should perform essential functions for human development: protection, support for productive and leisure activities, ensure mobility of goods and people, promote the development and cohesion of citizens, guarantee their health and comfort, etc. Like a living body, these functions consume resources and generate emissions and waste. A smart-efficient city gets the highest performance with the minimum consumption
