Lower cost and greater familiarity, combined with the fiscal and competitive imperatives should be the goal of Smart City projects.

The ubiquity of wireless and wired networks provides a means to gather data. The continuing influence of Moore’s Law (enabling ever greater computing power at lower prices) and the emergence of cloud computing provide a means to store and analyse vast oceans of unstructured (“big”) data.

All the water bodies such as Lakes, rivers, canals and ponds should be protected all around with a pukka revetments and service roads for easy maintenance. Also Lakes such as Alandur lake and Velachery lake can be developed for boat transportation with a service road at least on onside. Canals connecting points (Junctions)with lakes and rivers will be provided with a screen wall for arresting/stopping the floating materials in the water mixed with Lake/River.

Transport:
As already mentioned by other users, there could be an internet based public transport tracking service available which should provide daily schedules of the public transports including Local Trains(which is changing everyday). These service should be authorized and provided by official systems rather than the public developed service which are not live, out-dated and containing unauthorized data.

We are in the need of alternate power source. Hence all the commercial buildings should be insisted as mandatory to produce 50% of their power consumption through natural resources such as Solar or wind energy. Also awareness regarding power production from natural resources among individual residents should be created and implemented.

1.Main issue of Chennai city is Parking of vehicles.Wherever possible we should provide Multi level car parking facility. For example in Guindy the place in between/enclosed around Kathippara bridge is a suitable place for Multi level car parking. It will very useful to commuters of Alandur metro rail and St.Thomas mount MRTS passengers/users. Also it is very useful to users of Guindy industrial estate and in and around people of Guindy commercial area.
