Let BUS travel be LOVED..!!
New incoming buses cheer up the daily passengers. Its style and speed keeps it more preferred, yet, its second face is very bad. WINDOW SYSTEM in the new buses have plastic stick that holds the window glass. Buses have a rough and tough travel daily and these vibrations break those plastic holders. Ultimately, almost all the windows deals with the same problem leading to shut-windows - NO VENTILATION - SUFFOCATION. We need "FLAWLESS TECHNOLOGY" not "FANCY ONE"...!!

1. Networking should be given priority in Smart City. Broadband inside the city should be more than 100 Mbps .
2. Public transport inside the city should be thru Metro Trains only. For limited purpose small buses may be allowed inside.
3. Greenery should be developed inside
4. The city should be like " Putra Jaya" developed by Malaysia

1. All Buildings in Smart City should be constructed with pre fabricated Building materials and not conventional materials by dumping all materials on the roads.
2. In Residential places no vehicles should be parked on roads.
3. Religious buildings should not be constructed inside the city.
4. Noise pollution should be very minimal
5. No pets should be allowed to do their morning rituals on the road
6. Waste should not be dumped on the roads and the same to be disposed thru home collection.

SCRAP before RELAYING..!!
TO begin with, roads have a serious untold problems. Apart from Digging roads for EB or Water pipes, a major issue prevails from the RELAYING of roads one above the other. Every single time when the road is laid, approximately its thickness would be 6", that includes rough stones and tar. Laying roads above and above, increases the height of the road. This leads to sinking of houses. Just think!!! In future, we need to get down to enter our homes from roads..??

1. In Smart City there should be clear cut demarcation of Residential and Commercial areas. Both should not be mixed up to avoid congestion.
2. All the cables and drains should be laid underground in long and deep trenches like in Singapore to avoid digging and cutting the roads. The maintenance work has to be carried out by getting thru the trenches.
3. All Buildings inside Smart city should comply with Green Building concept.
4. All Buildings should harness and utilise Solar Power.

Building "Digital India" can be achieved only when the goal of making our cities smart is accomplished. Hence, following are some suggestions to make our city smart:
1) Employing air filters in major traffic hubs
2) Using automatic street lights
3) High speed wifi hotspots in public places
4) Using solar and wind driven telephone towers
5) Water management through automated control system
6) Promoting use of bio-pits and drawing energy from organic waste
7) Donating stray animals for good

Most modern shelters at the bus stops do not offer much respite from the heat as they are made of synthetic (polymer) material. At least in the bus stop in my area people wait under the nearby trees and NOT under the shelters, especially during hot mornings and afternoons. We could provide some sort of green cover to the bus shelters by using ornamental plants that grow on building walls or climbers such as the Bougainvilleas can be made to grow over the roof of the bus shelters.

My suggestions would be to make a cycle path as described in attachment and create overbridge to reduce traffic menace between Tidel Park - Madhya Kailash - Adyar - Anna University. Please refer attachment.

Chennai should create a vibrant people participation model enabled by technology and mobile applications to create a smart city. For e.g. I should know the position of all civic services in my street using an application. For e.g. are all roads clean now? If I have a complaint, I use technology to complain and the Corporation reacts immediately and status is up dated. Transparency is key here. Ward and street level people participation is key to create a smart city, manage it, sustain it.
