Corporation of Chennai is preparing a proposal towards Smart City Challenge which would include city wide smart urban solutions as well as identification of areas within the city for its implementation.

The proposal would be defined primarily based on voice of Chennai residents. An extensive citizen engagement programme is established by Corporation of Chennai to document the views and concernsfor the same.

Residents may post their opinion and ideas on civic services such as transport, parking, water supply, sanitation, energy, housing, IT solutions,health, education, safety and security. Your views, opinion and solutions on urban issues faced by Chennai would not only support a better tomorrow for Chennaites, it will also make Chennai a strong contender for getting shortlisted as one of the first 20 cities in India to implement Smart City Solutions in Phase 1.

Chennai citizen and community is its biggest strength. Let’s participate to make this proposal inclusive and meaningful for every common man, every citizen.

IT WILL BE VERY NICE. AFTER THE SMART CITY PROJECT HAS BEEN STARTED CHENNAI WILL CHANGE INTO A BETTER AND ADVANCED CITY, AFTER-ALL CHENNAI IN TODAY'S CONDITION IT SELF IS VERY NICE AND ADVANCED TECHNOLOGICALLY IMPROVING CITY AFTER THIS PROJECT CHENNAI WILL BE ONE OF THE LEADING CITY IN ECONOMIC GROWTH, TRADING ETC. THANKS TO TAMIL NADU GOVERNMENT FOR THIS SMART CITY PROHJECT.

Install CCTV cameras in all major junctions, trouble areas and other important buildings and maintain them with proper team and serve the purpose to citizens, not to leave it as dump Improve efficiency in government department functions by installing biometric attendance system,pasting citizen charter and taking actions on violations Reduce corruptions by using online systems in all Reduce political interference in police system and make them responsible for citizen security(notonly VIPS)

Chennai represents a different pollution challenge. Its annual average pollution levels -- though lower than other mega cities -- still vary between moderate to critical.MTC: Improve MTC fleet – add 1500 buses and 300 mini buses. Ensure all buses have GPS to track live bus arrivals and make bulk of our transports operate with BIO-FUEL / SOLAR POWER, save the earth.STREAMLINE For good Road’s, Fly over & infrastructure/New bus routings & proper drainage and water for entire city.

Energy (i) Solar is an obvious choice of renewable source of power. Since it is in infancy stage & expensive, govt may step-up to buy solar power from households how much ever small it may be. Smart meters can be brought in to exactly measure how much has been sold and this will interest people to invest in solar energy. This is the only but sure way for chennai to become energy surplus. Imagine every household of Chennai is a profitable supplier than mere consumer of power.

Hi Pl implement express way with exit and entry similar to highways in other countries. It makes sense to collect toll in OMR roads with this concept ( No signals) as currently we are paying toll for no reason and it is congested and main signals, we end up waiting for more than 10 min due to heavy traffic. Also, in Chennai we have too many two wheelers and trucks, we should provide lanes to heavy vehicles and two wheelers to regulate the traffic. Please consider this.

11. Convert commercial vehicles to electric/ CNG 12. Single number for all emergencies & complaints like 911 13. Better utilization of public spaces for parking eg:(space opposite to secretariat can be used as bus bay instead of old cars and debris) 14. Automated doors in MRTS, EMU & Metro stations to avoid walking on tracks. 15. Hydroponics Commercial Market for fresh vegetables 16. clean & big Meat market like Koyambedu 17. pressurized steam wash to remove unwanted poster & dirt

Chennai City central area has space thankfully to its heritage. But city struggles with Water Scarcity 24X7. Water desalination plant water should be reaching all corners of the city. Every good locality comes with some violations on FSR and needs to be corrected for emergency evacuation. Storm water drainage system needs to be prioritised to prevent water logging. Sewerage system needs overhaul due to its limitations. MTC needs to learn to follow timetable. Mayors election by 2.5 years must.

Smart road. Install motion capturing cameras, at the road junctions and bus stops that’s prone to traffic jams. The output of cameras are passed to back office From the camera output, the back office randomly identifies the vehicle numbers, that crosses, when signal is ‘Red’, using the cameras at road junctions. Also randomly identifies the bus numbers, that are not stopping inside the bus-bays. Sends penalty amount notice, to pay at RTO office. Idea generates money, automatic process.
