“The earth, water and the air are not a gift to us from our parents but a loan from our children.” ---Anonymous

Energy resources have transformed human lives and lifestyles. Energy resources have allowed for human achievement and ambition to move from the potter’s wheel, farmer’s plough and the weaver’s loom to space missions and robots among others. However, the modern world looms in the shadow of a severe energy crisis: the result of unsustainable and inefficient use of energy resources.

Unsustainable and inefficient energy consumption threatens the very basis of life as we have come to know it. In the face of the increasing scarcity of energy resources it is imperative that we launch a committed, concerted and cumulative effort towards holistic energy use habits and sustainable consumption patterns.

Energy conservation most importantly means that conservation becomes an all pervasive habit, an everyday philosophy and practice that aims to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels, adoption of energy efficient lifestyles and fostering innovations in green and clean energy technologies.

D&NHPDCL invites suggestions, guidance, comments from citizens, self-help groups, environmental organisations towards developing Energy Conservation as a habit towards an energy secure future.

People have given marvellous & thought provoking ideas. Can we increase ceiling height, place windows in wind direction, use coolers instead of a/c, mud-pots/fresh vegetables & fruits instead of fridge in our life? Loose fitting Khaadi clothes act as coolants & warmers, just try. Like car-pools we can have different pools, it makes us social & active, gives joy & makes friends. Let us change ideas about acceptance & position, we have lost too much let children live natural, stress-free easy Life

In many cities at district level now a days they depend on others like Delhi capital of our country don't have is own water But at the rainy season at all districts not having proper solutions to harvest the rain water instead many societies leave there roof water outlet to sewer so instead of wasting water connect that outlet with the help of FILTERS to BORES or WELLS so that it INCREASE THE LEVEL OF WATER IN RESPECTED DISTRICTS and it does not require extra work and cost.

In railways at the roof top of each and every railway bogie we are having free space so instead of leaving free space fix SOLAR PANELS so we get electricity from that and use it. In our country in many SMART CITIES there are large buildings of height of from 20 to nearly 50 floors so make it compulsory for them to replace simple glass to solar panels so they get maximum electricity from solar And Regarding problem of water, in DISTRICT each and every one do RAINWATER HARVESTING COMPULSORY.

At home we save electricity as we have to bear electrical bill. Electrical power is used non-seriously in central & state Govt offices, institutions ,companies as Govt bears electricity bill.Advantages of Free sunlight & Natural ventilation is not taken in offices. During daytime, sunlight can make illumination in offices & lights can be kept OFF. Computers,Lights,AC can be put off during Lunch hours.Power needs to be used, like we use in our home.Reduction of number of AC units to be considered.

Sensors installed in rooms for automatic switch on and off for when people do not turn off lights. Industrial and public facilities could really use this as it is hard to keep track of every room that might be wasting energy.

For energy conservation in old houses and factories where light is required even during day light hours it is suggested that a small diameter pipe sealed at both end (to avoid ingress of unwanted insects and dust) with reflective mirrors at every bend at 45 degrees and lance of appropriate dia and refractive index would transmit and spread light in dark rooms. This would help in energy saving where bulbs are kept on 24 hours.
