“The earth, water and the air are not a gift to us from our parents but a loan from our children.” ---Anonymous

Energy resources have transformed human lives and lifestyles. Energy resources have allowed for human achievement and ambition to move from the potter’s wheel, farmer’s plough and the weaver’s loom to space missions and robots among others. However, the modern world looms in the shadow of a severe energy crisis: the result of unsustainable and inefficient use of energy resources.

Unsustainable and inefficient energy consumption threatens the very basis of life as we have come to know it. In the face of the increasing scarcity of energy resources it is imperative that we launch a committed, concerted and cumulative effort towards holistic energy use habits and sustainable consumption patterns.

Energy conservation most importantly means that conservation becomes an all pervasive habit, an everyday philosophy and practice that aims to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels, adoption of energy efficient lifestyles and fostering innovations in green and clean energy technologies.

D&NHPDCL invites suggestions, guidance, comments from citizens, self-help groups, environmental organisations towards developing Energy Conservation as a habit towards an energy secure future.

Farmers have to take out water from bore-well where there is no facility of canals/irrigation. Pump consumes more power where the water table is low. To save on this energy consumption, all rivers/rivulets must have check dams to preserve water flowing into sea.It is worthwhile to dig ponds before monsoon so that it will be filled with water in monsoon.

Waste water from washing machine can be recycled easily using homemade bio-sand filter. It constitute around 35-40 liters of water per wash per family. If we could recycle it just once and use it for another cycle, it would save huge chunk of water.I will upload the pictures of the filter I have made, very soon.

Dear panel, why don't we make it compulsory for motor vehicles to switch off the engine if they have to stand in a signal for more than 20 seconds? It can yield great results. It can be made as an amendment in the motor vehicles act, and impose it mandatorily and save our country's fuel cost. Introduce Green cops to monitor the same under the power and fuel ministry or environment ministry. Cut huge in carbon emissions and save on fuel cost. Win Win situation. Isn't it??

i have some issues regarding unnecessary use of electricity (road light) and water, people are wasting both things they are very precious. The time not for enough when people will fight for water and light to live. Do a favor 1) check the places which require light and water 2) check how much they require and arrange for them 3) places that do not require such unnecessary thing cut them off because street light is enough to light the park but people use halogen a wastage. Light in dark -Indian
