“The earth, water and the air are not a gift to us from our parents but a loan from our children.” ---Anonymous

Energy resources have transformed human lives and lifestyles. Energy resources have allowed for human achievement and ambition to move from the potter’s wheel, farmer’s plough and the weaver’s loom to space missions and robots among others. However, the modern world looms in the shadow of a severe energy crisis: the result of unsustainable and inefficient use of energy resources.

Unsustainable and inefficient energy consumption threatens the very basis of life as we have come to know it. In the face of the increasing scarcity of energy resources it is imperative that we launch a committed, concerted and cumulative effort towards holistic energy use habits and sustainable consumption patterns.

Energy conservation most importantly means that conservation becomes an all pervasive habit, an everyday philosophy and practice that aims to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels, adoption of energy efficient lifestyles and fostering innovations in green and clean energy technologies.

D&NHPDCL invites suggestions, guidance, comments from citizens, self-help groups, environmental organisations towards developing Energy Conservation as a habit towards an energy secure future.

Hello sir, I am Yugen Kulkarni from Kolhapur, Maharashtra. I would like to suggest that you should make compulsion to all colleges and universities to install roof top solar plant . You may provide some subcidy for that . This will conserve our energy.

Solar walkway in Dutch has been successful. This looks like a very promising and innovative idea. http://interestingengineering.com/dutch-solaroad-is-more-productive-than-expected/ People still cannot afford costs of getting a solar water heater but the government can build solar roads that can harness the energy.

We can start by installing solar panels on all the central/state govt owned bunglows/apartments and later on same followed by govt offices. I'm sure if you pull a report, these places consume a lot of power. Then we can get this done in all govt aided (fully & partially) educational institutions. Every department can be asked to follow this practice on its own expenditure. Then railway stations can play major role in power saving. Business houses too can do if this is made as CSR activity.

Goverment should provide demo to each society/colony and demontsrate how to setup solar panel/cost/subsidy/contact details/advantages etc.Even educated people know about solar pannel but they don't know where to contact/subsidy etc. Also such demo should organize in goovermet offices. People should aware of these details then they will come forward to utlize these solar pannel.

Govt should instruct to switch off the back lit advertising boards after midnight .All the back lit boards consume very high electricity .There is no point in having a back lit boards at 3 am only boards showing essential services like hospital , pharmacy , blood bank and hotel should be allowed to keep the back lit boards switched on .Gradually ensure they all use solar energy This simple measure will help us in saving great amount of electricity immediately
