“The earth, water and the air are not a gift to us from our parents but a loan from our children.” ---Anonymous

Energy resources have transformed human lives and lifestyles. Energy resources have allowed for human achievement and ambition to move from the potter’s wheel, farmer’s plough and the weaver’s loom to space missions and robots among others. However, the modern world looms in the shadow of a severe energy crisis: the result of unsustainable and inefficient use of energy resources.

Unsustainable and inefficient energy consumption threatens the very basis of life as we have come to know it. In the face of the increasing scarcity of energy resources it is imperative that we launch a committed, concerted and cumulative effort towards holistic energy use habits and sustainable consumption patterns.

Energy conservation most importantly means that conservation becomes an all pervasive habit, an everyday philosophy and practice that aims to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels, adoption of energy efficient lifestyles and fostering innovations in green and clean energy technologies.

D&NHPDCL invites suggestions, guidance, comments from citizens, self-help groups, environmental organisations towards developing Energy Conservation as a habit towards an energy secure future.

# Fire in rural fields in Punjab and pollution in Delhi- Millions of Tonnes of rice husk is burned by farmers to clear their land. Govt. is putting penalties instead of giving solutions. proven, commercialized and cost effective Bio-mass Boiler available in the country. Just use the rice husk to produce steam in small /medium size boilers. It will save the energy and Income to farmers and steam can be used by industry at 50% of the cost. Govt. should do it on war footing. Do not waste time.

Govt want general public to adopt LED lights and it is providing at reasonable rate. But why it is not reducing the excise and VAT on it. If it becomes cheaper, more people will buy. Currently many are buying cheap lights which are useless and with lof PF, it will affect the distribution network.
