“The earth, water and the air are not a gift to us from our parents but a loan from our children.” ---Anonymous

Energy resources have transformed human lives and lifestyles. Energy resources have allowed for human achievement and ambition to move from the potter’s wheel, farmer’s plough and the weaver’s loom to space missions and robots among others. However, the modern world looms in the shadow of a severe energy crisis: the result of unsustainable and inefficient use of energy resources.

Unsustainable and inefficient energy consumption threatens the very basis of life as we have come to know it. In the face of the increasing scarcity of energy resources it is imperative that we launch a committed, concerted and cumulative effort towards holistic energy use habits and sustainable consumption patterns.

Energy conservation most importantly means that conservation becomes an all pervasive habit, an everyday philosophy and practice that aims to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels, adoption of energy efficient lifestyles and fostering innovations in green and clean energy technologies.

D&NHPDCL invites suggestions, guidance, comments from citizens, self-help groups, environmental organisations towards developing Energy Conservation as a habit towards an energy secure future.

LED lamps import is necessary due to three to four times higher rates. Common citizens r not being encouraged due to higher rates in comparison to CFL. Bold & immediate steps r required in this field from our Central Govt. Big production houses of India is earning huge amount of profit, thus the proper publicity and sale is not being made.

There is a need to strengthen public transport system in every big city. Effective steps are required to implement for road vehicles. Entry of slow vehicle should be banned on high speed roads. Seperate lane for slow vehicle r required. Small buses can be used instead of big buses with increased frequency. Less rate of transportation fare will also encourage the public transport system.

GREEN INDIA Please plant trees before you cut one. We may be cutting down trees to expand our public infrastructure. But the government should make sure to plant more trees at other places in order to maintain the equilibrium. Again, there's no point in holding emergency meetings and discussions on saving earth after we only started destroying it.

Save Water: 1. Rain Water Harvesting to be made compulsory across India to save rain water, increase ground water level and reduce dependence on tankers/ lorries. 2. Only Chennai at the moment has RWH. This has to be implemented everywhere. 3. When water is in abundance, we do not know its value. There's no point in regretting after misusing the resource that is now available but later may not if such misuse continues. PLEASE SAVE WATER!!!

Public Transportation: 1. Make public transportation more connected so that people can reach places with ease. Improperly connected public transportation is equal to no transportation. Eg. the Bangalore Metro Rail 2. Once public transportation is more connected, the government may impose more tax on possession of more than one car per household. The tax collected may be used to repay the cost of construction of the public transportation. Secondly, this will reduce carbon emissions & traffic.

i have seen while travelling in train that the lights are on even during daytime which is not necessary and it can comsume lots of electricity, so make it operational only during low sunlight/night. to make it possible we can use softwear based on lightmetre used during badlight condition on cricket ground. so the lights of coaches will be automatically turned on when light detoriates below certain level and it wiill be automatically turned off when light improves.
