I always wanted to point out the timed water flow taps which are often used in malls and other such places and waste a lot of water. Any person who intends to use this tap should push the nozzle on the top and the water starts flowing, but there is no way in which the same can be stopped once done. Thus, the water flows for a fixed duration wasting 100s of litres everyday. This should be checked and replaced asap by ones which use a reasonable amount. #EnergyConservation #WaterConservation

Second, the govt must make installations of 'solar panels' mandatory for all new office/residential buildings being constructed beyond a certain project value. Third, the govt must come up with new initiatives similar to the 'White Roof Project' (http://www.whiteroofproject.org) in the U.S. It consists of painting the roof top with a reflective white coating. It's proven that white roofs reduce peak summer energy consumption between 10-40%. It's not only cost effective but also cuts pollution!!

As it stands, India notches a huge bill on coal and oil imports each year, which is a severe drain on tax payers money. Today, we are lagging in renewable energy as it has never received due focus. It's time the govt used the 'policy instrument' to increase use of renewable energy. First, the govt must provide tariff concessions for all office/residential buildings using solar energy to meet part of their needs.

Toto, a battery-operated rickshaw can replace the polluting auto rickshaws which run on fossil fuel. They are a big polluter and a big nuisance.

Fossil fuel has limited stock. So can reduce its depletion by using renewable energy like solar and storage battery. Cars which run on rechargeable batteries must be given incentive for making them in India. Then people who use bikes for commuting in cities can replace petrol bikes with Electric bikes. Such a change can reduce pollution and use of fossil fuel. Govt must encourage use of solar panel for use in home. It can cut down our electricity bill and save coal in thermal power stations.

All people will convert to solar energy if very cheap solar panels get available. Only way for that is to bring a lot of companies manufacturing solar cells and create tight competition among them.
