“The earth, water and the air are not a gift to us from our parents but a loan from our children.” ---Anonymous

Energy resources have transformed human lives and lifestyles. Energy resources have allowed for human achievement and ambition to move from the potter’s wheel, farmer’s plough and the weaver’s loom to space missions and robots among others. However, the modern world looms in the shadow of a severe energy crisis: the result of unsustainable and inefficient use of energy resources.

Unsustainable and inefficient energy consumption threatens the very basis of life as we have come to know it. In the face of the increasing scarcity of energy resources it is imperative that we launch a committed, concerted and cumulative effort towards holistic energy use habits and sustainable consumption patterns.

Energy conservation most importantly means that conservation becomes an all pervasive habit, an everyday philosophy and practice that aims to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels, adoption of energy efficient lifestyles and fostering innovations in green and clean energy technologies.

D&NHPDCL invites suggestions, guidance, comments from citizens, self-help groups, environmental organisations towards developing Energy Conservation as a habit towards an energy secure future.

Infrastructure development which helps in waste management by physical output be developed such as crusher added to exercisng cycle which could disintegrate the plastic or manure waste into smaller pieces. This will help in easy decomposition and creating less smoke by complete burning(also for energy). Every institution have some or more paper waste which could be gathered by any private personnel and be sent for recycling. If a system be developed by the government it may generate revenue also.

its commonly seen in govt offices that ceiling fan are so old that they only make a lot of noise but no air flow and also consume a lot of power such old fan should be replaced with new one immediately. though its a bit costly but in long run it will be cheaper and beneficial. The same should be done with old AC's and should be replaced with 5star rated AC's.

it is commonly seen on local street/roads/highways that street light/night lamps remain on in the day time also as nobody remember to shut them off but if we connect all street light of a city/highway through a PHOTO ELECTRIC SENSOR then there will be no need to manually regulate these street light. these photo electric sensors are also not so costly. with these we can save lot of power which can be diverted to the more needy places.

In states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan; Sunlight is available almost for 10 months in a year throughput the day time. Govt should encourage the instalaltion of rooftop solar panels on domestic houses, Govt. buildings by enacting rules, providing encouragement so that India can be free from Energy defficiency. In countries like Australia local electricity board buy the extra energy from these type of sources and credit them during use of electricity from boards.
