“The earth, water and the air are not a gift to us from our parents but a loan from our children.” ---Anonymous

Energy resources have transformed human lives and lifestyles. Energy resources have allowed for human achievement and ambition to move from the potter’s wheel, farmer’s plough and the weaver’s loom to space missions and robots among others. However, the modern world looms in the shadow of a severe energy crisis: the result of unsustainable and inefficient use of energy resources.

Unsustainable and inefficient energy consumption threatens the very basis of life as we have come to know it. In the face of the increasing scarcity of energy resources it is imperative that we launch a committed, concerted and cumulative effort towards holistic energy use habits and sustainable consumption patterns.

Energy conservation most importantly means that conservation becomes an all pervasive habit, an everyday philosophy and practice that aims to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels, adoption of energy efficient lifestyles and fostering innovations in green and clean energy technologies.

D&NHPDCL invites suggestions, guidance, comments from citizens, self-help groups, environmental organisations towards developing Energy Conservation as a habit towards an energy secure future.

Apart from these, Energy Audits should be made compulsory once in two years for industries and offices. I am not sure, whether currently any law regarding this is there.

Compel housing societies and residences to use efficient light sources like LED etc. Provide property tax rebates for maximizing use of solar and other alternative source of energy, switching based on sensors for all possible electrical equipments. Enforce commercial establishments to adopt power efficient devices and mandate an end date for stop production of older non compliant power devices across the board.

1. To focus more on the use of energy from organic energy sources like bio- fuels, biomass, bio gas, etc. 2. More initiatives regarding the construction of green buildings. 3. Stopping abrupt changes in land usages. 4. Boosting the harnessing of tidal energy. 5. Compulsory environmental education for all. 6. Taking steps to clear way for new machines to be installed in the factories and construction sites, as wear and tear leads to a waste of useful energy. 7. Area- based energy grid.

Participation among citizen with awareness of Why should we do. We all know but try to avoid because others don't do. Unique approach needed which may call for better participation from Individuals to save Energy and utilized efficiently. We all follow west in style but need to get ourselves better in saving of energy. Energy saving would certainly lead to Money saving of individuals. Unless i see any personal benefits i wont allow myself to be cautious, same happens with all.

Area based approach is very important for development of Renewable energy and Energy efficiency.Incentives for more efficiency like reduction in bill if used less than last bill like 20% ETC.
