Sustainable Exploitation of oil and gas potential of the North East region could be a harbinger of economic prosperity for the people of the region. Presently there seems to be a disconnect between the local communities and the Exploration and Production (E&P) operators in the region. This seems to be discouraging E&P activities in the region thereby reducing the number of takers for operations in the region. Although the Govt. of India has been taking several initiatives to promote E&P in the NER, it is essential to make the local communities an important stakeholder in the process.

Suggestions are invited from the public which could encourage people's participation in these activities.

Major issues that are responsible for delay in production project are ,lack of detail engineering in time, dependency of Govt agency on subcontractors for procurement of equipments & materials, followed by lack of co-ordination /control on project completion . All oil majors in the world have put systems in place to overcome these deficiencies and moved on to LNG/LPG and FSRU , but India is still going round &round ...with delays . Need to think differently , look beyond our horizon ,
