Sustainable Exploitation of oil and gas potential of the North East region could be a harbinger of economic prosperity for the people of the region. Presently there seems to be a disconnect between the local communities and the Exploration and Production (E&P) operators in the region. This seems to be discouraging E&P activities in the region thereby reducing the number of takers for operations in the region. Although the Govt. of India has been taking several initiatives to promote E&P in the NER, it is essential to make the local communities an important stakeholder in the process.

Suggestions are invited from the public which could encourage people's participation in these activities.

Biggest challenge in conservation of petrol & diesel is to overcome the resistance from vested interests in retaining tolls all over the country. Golden Quadrilateral , expressways get useless due to time lost forcing further speeding up and waste of fuel. Jams at Toll plazas running into kilometers e.g new toll at Panvel at the entrance of Mumbai inspite of BJP promising toll free Maharashtra in election manfesto. Best equitable way-- no toll, surtax on Diesel, petrol & CNG for vehicles.
