Include more practical oriented subjects at primary/secondary level. Subjects like nutrition, home remedies for minor health problems, first-aid, yoga, compulsory self-defense classes as part of sports activities. All such should form part of the curriculum itself and not optional or extra-curricular activity. This would provide a very healthy and sound foundation for every child in the country. when disaster management can be taught to a 9th grade child, why not these small things.

Basic financial education should become part of school curriculum. every student must know- how to operate a bank account, write a cheque, deposit cash, why to save money, identify fake currency notes etc. such things would make them more confident about handling money. also such things should be taught as a compulsory subject. Some students who come from rich families may learn all these, but those who come from middle-class and lower middle-class may not know.

To begin with follow American system in number of years but course structure should be left to the educators to decide with the target given to them is 'employability'. - jknanda.com

Reservation Policy needs to be reviewed. As this forum is for education aspects relevant are:-
Basic education upto senior secondary free and compulsory for all - thus no reservation.
No reservation in higher education. Meritorious students from economically weaker section to be given scholarships and easy loans.
No reservation / segregation of educational institutes on grounds of religion(easier said than done-impl strategies later)

The school based on religion should be closed. Students of all religion should be studied together. Good things of all religion should be taught in the class.

Please review your policy on 'reservation'. Those of whom (classified either under SC/ST/OBC/Minority) have been recruited in government jobs, their children should NOT be covered under any quota system. Instead, reserve those students who have poor financial background. Now this is only the beginning of my suggestions. I shall, henceforth, put forward my views on education eventually.
