With a dramatic growth in elementary education enrolments and improvements in retention and transition rates in recent years, particularly amongst the more disadvantaged groups, there is an increasing pressure on the secondary schools to admit more students. With the enforcement of RTE Act and further improvement in retention and transition rates, demand for secondary schooling will grow rapidly in the coming years. The objective of this discussion group is to assess to what extent we have made quality education available, accessible and affordable to the target population in the age group of 14–18 years. How we can increase access to post elementary education across the country in a manner so as to ensure no child is denied the opportunity of completing his/her school education. In particular, how can we address the geographical and social disparities in secondary education?

The Govt should undertake all private school to give best education to all poor students and higher secondary schools subject must include technical subject such as civil electrical and mechanical .this subject maybe upgrade the students skills

For the education of 14-18 years I believe that there is scope in all the fields.We should make them person who can earn there living rather then just be 12 th pass.Lets not govt job or private job be the only alternative.we can develop skilled artisans,craftsmen in them in that age.as in India the pressure of earning a living starts at 18.Hence we need to make them capable instead of just degreeholders.We can help them in identifying their interest areas and help grow in specified fields.

Instead of increasing the number of schools we need to raise the quality in the existing school.As they have good infrastructure but least maintained,books to be taught but least taught as we have heard from the people studying there.The principals and teachers should have a zeal of belongingness to that school so that they can help it grow like their own venture.The schools can maintain itself by using its premises for evening sports or classes.they should be self sustainable.

Till 10th and 12th all schools including private should be banned from taking donation and fee should be regularized by govt commission. so that it could reach to the common man. who cant afford the high pricing of school nearby and due to the greater distance from cheaper colleges they dropped out. Also there should be no beggars on street less that 15 to 18 years old this will decrease the child trafficking also force them to go into the schools as they wouldn't be having any way to earn.

In cont.. The active n educated citizens from everycity could be voluntary made a part of govt school as a representative of citizens to actually look into the reality because its not possible for govt to peak into everyday matters happening there.That citizen should have the right to reach out to education deptt and report the problem and help in deeply analyzing the situations.As its very easy to comment as a viewer then to perform.so let the critics be a part and show how they can help.

4(Primary)+4(Elementary)+4(Secondary)+4(College) System. Minimum 4+4+4 should be compulsory for every Indian citizen. Primary: memory enhancement by various languages &/ moral thoughts. Elementary: various methods of analysis of thoughts. Secondary: deep analyses and realistic applications and to understand various concepts and ideas with application / practicals in and around our life. College: publications and findings prior to about 3-5 years. Exam National: 4 (covers all portions of level)

Age of 5 yrs to 14 yrs is the most precious time of a human.This time helps to mould the human in us.As an educationist I have analysed that the education teaches us how to deal with life as it comes.The examination shows the result of how much responsibly did we did our job.Hence we need to structurize our primary education in a practical way again.I know its difficult but in true context we need to do that to utilise the nations money in right way.Learned people should be incl in commt at city

in addition to my previous comment, schools and colleges more focus on exams only, they don't provide the ability to innovate or build creativity. That is the biggest reason why india is far behind in innovation in comparison to other countries. A central ministry should define the syllabus like including crash courses and certification material in the beginning of schools and college at least foundation should be strong to everyone(equal) to accommodate any technological change in the future.

The education system of our country is way beyond the reality, like 97% of students wouldn't be able to get a good job without some crash courses or certification. That means what is being taught in schools and colleges is exam centric not innovation or centric towards building creativity. Schools are charging the way they want like 3 to 4 lakhs per annum. There should be a policy which should tell what could be the maximum amount of fee can be in school. also a central board to define syllabus

There should be a separate All India education cadre like the civil services but different from them. Strict selection criteria for all levels of teachers must be enforced. The cadre may be called the Indian Education Services. This should be the highest paid service in the country, higher than any other service. Teachers mould the future of the country.
