Skilled workers are plenty, know how is also available. But only problem is to MARKET the product. Handloom, garments is related to fashion. We can request Citizens to buy khadi as a national interest, but it would be a "Donation" based growth and will not last so long. The better solution is the attractive packaging. Most imp is , in India the trend setters are bollywood stars. If in some way we can tap those stars to promote handloon on screen or off screen then it can grow this sector...

1. start India Handlooms brand with hallmark for genuine product(we can think of any brand name)
2. organize exhibition across the world to spread the awareness.
3. Create an e-commerce platform to sale the handlooms product and advertise it. this way we can reach to the urban population. Tie up with courier company to get it delivered at door.
4. give tax/service tax exemption on handlooms product.

Launch Gandhi-Ashram`s products as a brand world-wide. promote new western designs with same fabric quality. Revise the brand name and tag it (example: ELEGANT, a product of gandhi ashram). Open stores in mall`s.

like when i last travelled to bhuj, i could showcase to my friends how, when and where the beautiful pieces they saw at delhi haat came to be created..
like in the crafts parks called "Khamir" where artisans, designer, retailers, all came to gather to create this magical experience of buying indian handlooms and block printed fabrics..
like we need malls/stores to sell manufactured goods..we need these live experience centres to promote handlooms..

Handlooms is a way of life..labour of love and hardwork..it cannot be treated like goods manufactured in factories by machines..because lets face it..handlooms cannot and should not match the speed of machines..
one way to promote handlooms/ handicrafts is by taking the customer through the experience of making it..Only when one understands and sees the amount of care, vision and creativity a craftsman puts into the woven piece, only then will he really value the handloom piece..

First youth of the country must be given knowledge about the handlooms and how can we use it in a proper way in our daily life. Organization can be made which give knowledge and uses of handlooms. This organization may have number of members . It can arrange seminars in each city as well as in each area of the city so that the people can understand the the advantages of it . We can give handlooms as very reasonable prize so that people attract to buy such things .

All handloom centres in India are in old towns and cities with poor infrastructures. so the govt. can established Apparel Parks with all modern facilities and residential colony to shift weavers optionally in this way the old towns/cities (congested) can be given a facelift, like city of Varanasee.
